Few gays have a real job. Some are students but they all mainly live a party life. Frequenting the discos. They make a living under the table in all kinds of illegal ways. Mainly selling clothes, and prostitution. Any way that works for them. Many of them have gay boyfriends outside of the country who support them.
In Cuba males are required to have a job if they are not students, but not gays. They do not bother them. Straight people ignore them and there is discrimination. Maricon is their favoured insult word meaning gay or faggot for someone they don't like. A Cuban Blue Jay baseball player was suspended for having maricon printed on his face as a message to the opposition. It totally surprised his as it is so normal in Cuba.

They are a strange class of people in Cuba seemingly living outside of the system.
