Prop 8 Fueling Vitriol at Folsom Street Fair

There are 8 comments on the gay_blog.blogspot.com story from Sep 25, 2008, titled Prop 8 Fueling Vitriol at Folsom Street Fair. In it, gay_blog.blogspot.com reports that:

Every year, the Folsom Street Fair becomes a target of the only organizations more perverted than the fair itself -- Americans for Truth, Mission American, Liberty Counsel, etc. They usually just show up incognito and take a bunch of photos for posting on the Internet atop rants about depravity in America, then presumably sneak peaks later during vigorous masturbation. But this year, with gay marriage legalized in California and a prop on the ballot aiming to smack it down, those up-tight righties are full-out foaming at the mouth. The Americans for Truth "a national organization devoted to exposing and countering the homosexual activist agenda," are coming all the way from Naperville, Illinois, to yell things on the steps of City Hall tomorrow (Friday). They'll also attempt to confront Gavin Newsom and Nancy Pelosi for "welcoming a sadistic homosexual street fair to the city featuring hundreds of men walking around fully naked and engaging in public sex acts, as police stand idly by without enforcing decency laws."

Then there's the Liberty Counsel, an Orlando-based "non-profit litigation, education and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of human life and the traditional family." "Think we don't need Prop 8? Think again!" advises their press release entitled "California Approves Public Orgy - Folsom Street Fair is Back Again."

folsom street fair is nothing but insane garbage,
public nudity and all that other dumb stuff that takes place i say makes more people dissagree with the gay agenda, gays may feel that they are expressing freedom by acting discustingly deviant, it's ridiculous for anyone in their right mind to accept this garbage and call it a normal public function, ofcourse mayor newsome supports these activities because he knows gays have tons of money and whats in the wallet is what makes his eyes go round and round and matters more to him than the state of mind the city is in at the time.

Erm... The Folsom Street Fair is not a specifically LGBT event.

As for the protesters... well, I'm sure the merchants who've rented booths at the fair will be happy for the free publicity!

Why are these "Values Motivated" people not protesting on Broadway street in SF? Broadway is where the straight stripper bars are in the North Beach district of SF. Every night the SFPD has to sweep Broadway, as the bars close down, to prevent the drunken straights from breaking store windows and rioting. Traffic comes to a complete stop as the cops have to walk arm in arm down Broadway to break up the mayhem. This happens EVERY WEEKEND and most week nights. And these good Christains come to protest the one day a year that the Folsom street fair happens? Take some advise from the Bible and "Remove the beam from your own eye before trying to remove the tiny splinter from your brother's eye".

Why aren't gay people attending talibangelical groups' meetings with hidden tape recorders to get what those bigot-xstains say when they think they're off the record?

Posting mp3 files on the internetz can be fun, if not as fun as half naked people running around at a street fair.

Um... because that would mean actually attending and listening to that dreck?

Apparently, these "people of God" have no compunctions about seeking out the fair, walking through gates, passing by the signs announcing events that some might find objectionable, and setting out to find something by which to be offended.

Where do these people get the idea that everything that happens in every venue designated as "public" must be suitable for children? This seems odd to me. After all, what happens in the stalls of public restrooms isn't suitable for children to view, though using the toilet is perfectly legal. What happens in public wine tastings isn't suitable for children, though responsible adult drinking is perfectly legal.

The public consists more of your kids, you meddling evangelicals!

Pardon me. Still on my first cup of coffee. That last line should read:

It's funny that they never show the barricades, the signs warning that it's an adult event and may be inappropriate for children, they ignore the fundraising baskets at the entrances, they ignore all of the straight people at the event, and they never tell the truth that they're whacking off secretly in an alley somewhere because it's all so exciting for them.
