What does: "A Mexican National who has lived in the Santa Fe area for 12 years..." mean? That he lived in Santa Fe longer than his sentence? Lived there illegally? Lived there legally? Worked there? Given the horrible circumstances of the story, it was a strange way to start the story. Maybe just me, but....

It means see how easy it is to break the American laws, get free medical, schooling, sponge off their system and send all my money back to my family in Mexico.

It means we do nothing to enforce our laws if your here illegally but if your a born in the USA citizen watch out as the law will apply to you.

Now we tax payers will end up paying for all his meals, medical and what not for another 7.5 years.

He took a life and his should be taken in return, simple as that.

Yes, he was here illegally. They will deport him after he completes his sentence. It's a good thing.

Life is so cheap here in New Mexico. 7.5 yrears for two lives. make you feel so insugnfncant. Kind of like you have no value. But then I suppose our judges take their lead from our government. like when obama wants to put the health care needs of the elderly on the back burner just give them a tylenol instead of a pacemaker and send them on their way. When we devalue life and reward the scums with minimal punishment, Our country is on the fast track to self distruction.

I wouldn't call it a good thing but yes make him serve every last minute of his sentence then deport him but as soon as they deport him he will be back across the border within a matter of days.

Who employed him in Santa Fe for so long? Could they bear some responsibility. He had to have an ID to purchase the alcohol. Who gave him the ID and who sold him the alcohol. The fact is that much law is selectively enforced to reduce competition for those that are above the law. Immigration is allowed. The fact that this Gentleman is here illegally makes him a criminal. The fact that he drove intoxicated makes him a criminal. A serious question is why do we allow criminals to come here and stay here. There are millions of them. Our system is down right dishonest and as a result our state is much more dangerous for us.

True, & only six years in prison for causing the death of two people because he's an irresponsible, drunken fool is a travesty of justice. He'll be out on good time in three.

Why are 2 people's lives only worth 7.5 years?

Those people were only 48 and 41, they had at least 40 years each to go.

So, taking away 80 years of life is only worth a punishment of 7.5 years?

Also, is this person allowed time off for good behavior and can he be out in 3?

This is such an IN-justice system we have.

Welcome to America, home of the free criminals.

We need another revolution/civil war to kick out all the politicians and lobbyists and corrupt ___fill in the blanks___ and start over. Where is Clinton's wonderful "reset button"?

This is not how our great nation is supposed to be changed for the worst.

It's not right to blame others for this man's actions. It's not the employers fault, and it's not the vendors fault that sold him the alcohol that these two are dead.

Well he made to Santa Fe which means he had immunity all illegals know that Santa Fe is a save heaven. That why insurance is so high check with insurance companies. Which also means he probably has kids so can`t deport. Check all case studies in Salt Lake City from olympics 98 thousand strong now 38 thousand illegal can`t afford to kick out they know that. Besides voted for Obama on pathway to citizenship. So we lose eather way. Took grandson to DMV for lic. watched 5 illegals get lic. with apiece of paper from landlord stating they lived there 3 months none spoke english not even spanish. I`d say Central America.

BAC drawn 4 hours after the incident really has allowed a good percentage of the BAC to drop. LEO should of had his BAC drawn ASAP...This lil' green pepper needs to be deported back to where-ever he originated...I'm sure the folk there will welcome as a Pinata and stuff his mouth with a gourd....

That is such a small amount of time he has to pay for two lives. What are our Judges thinking? Give ereryone an opportunity to kill someone you been wanting to kill for a long time, No problem the Judges will only give three years for one person. Let go out and kill some of these illegals
maybe will be awarded for it

Seven and a half years? I guess life doesn't mean much to the judicial system in New Mexico, a double slap for the victims. He was here illegally he should have received life!
Just two weeks ago in New Jersey a man was sentence to 30 years for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon. See the difference!
I can bet you when it comes to Carlos Ferro he’ll most likely get little over 3 years since it was only one life!

Way to represent the rest of the illegal population that's in the United States. That's exactly why we don't want/need you here!

It's sad to think he killed, then serving only a short sentence, and released back into Mexico?! You know he will just come back?

I say shot on site, make an example out of him. He will just go back and tell his buddies how easy it was to get into the States, then drink and kill two people, and get free.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
