I grew up in the Manhattan Heights neighborhood in the late 1950's - 1960's - attended Crockett School, played in Memorial Park and the park between Richmond and Altura at Alabama St., rode my bicycle up and down each and every street.
It was a grand old neighborhood then and I am so glad it is under historic preservation.
I will be the first in line to buy Peters' book and walk down Memory Lane!

i do have to say.. it is a lovely neighborhood. memorial park at night looking over southcentral downtown its beautiful.... to it should be a hip neighborhood. i just dont get the eastside... to cookie cutter and to over crowded... i think its tired. old is the in...restoring the old homes.

Manhattan Heights is one of the loveliest neighborhoods in the city: with so many great old homes, including Craftsman style bungalows and Federal style mansions. I plan on buying Mr. Peters's book as soon as it's out! Congratulations!

I love Kern Place as well. It's also one of my favorite El Paso neighborhood. On the hand, you get more house for your money in Manhattan Heights.
