Every Walmart in El Paso is already filled with Hispanics. And to get MORE Hispanics you have to have a Walmart JUST for Hispanics?

Are the signs inside the Hispanic Walmart stores going to be in Spanish, so that the Hispanics will learn less and less English and so they WILL NOT fit in better with the rest of the US population, so they will earn less?

Do we need more people to keep speaking Spanish so they and members of their household cannot read road signs, the mail, voting/& election items?

Will the Hispanic Walmart hire people that speak English?(They dont hardly, now).

Once the Hispanics are fooled, with all the bright colors and glitter on the walls, into thinking that this is the place for THEM, the Walmart managers will raise prices, slowly, so they wont notice after they put all the competing stores out of business.

BEWARE: Walmart Grocery / Neighborhood Markets, typically charge about 10% MORE than the Walmart Supercenters for the EXACT SAME ITEMS.

(Send a reporter to a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Grocery with the exact same shopping list of common items and compare prices.)

Walmart store managers are allowed to raise prices to whatever the market will bear.

(The Store Managers get a percentage of the profit.)

Lowes Big 8 fresh foods are already about half the price of Walmart. Walmart is way off in their fresh food prices.

"Acceptamaos WIC" will be the only thing you see as you enter the store.

That, and all the tagging.

Enough of this Catering to the Mexicants......YA BASTA! Ask them for a USA/TEX ID when they use their WIC and Lone Star Estampillas. I bet they won't have one, just like no insurance/registrationa and driver's license. I wonder if to enter the store you must be wearing Aladin Boots and Taco Hats?? Or are they on sale there too??

the Walmart store shelves/ isles, used to have a sign that said: "Mexican Food",
Then,
it was carefully changed, overnight, when no one was looking to: "Hispanic Food".

Now, I think it just has: "Ethnic Food".

But, actually, in El Paso, all isles have Mexican Food and Hispanic Food, because I see Mexicans and Hispanics are buying food from every isle !

It's ALL Hispanic Food !

Everything in the store is Hispanic Food.

I have never seen a sign that says: "Gringo Food".

or is that the spaghetti and pasta isle?

Did you know that up until about 1976, you could not buy tortillas in Oklahoma or Kansas and many other central and northern states.

We used to SHIP / mail / frozen tortillas to those areas.

One of the issues missed so far is why is WalMart coming to Socorro? The citizens of Socorro need to be aware that this is the city council's doing. Without taking it to the community, they have been having meetings with WalMart officials to discuss bringing in a WalMart into the community. Someone needs to look into any tax breaks that were offered. It is tax revenue that the city council wants and unfortunately, at the expense of the small businesses that are currently serving the community. Just another process that the city council doesn't want advertised or are lying about. Just like when they said that the new police cars were purchased with grant money instead of admitting that the cars were purchased with COs which is future debt that the City of Socorro will eventually be paying.

Maybe it should all be called: "Food"

An all Chinese Walmart Grocery would be fun.

All the food, would seem to..... move.... in its bins. Wiggle a little. Jump at you. Bite you.

Walmart Chinatown !

The residents in Socorro will now have another option. GET PAID LOW WAGES BY "QUALMART, WHERE THERE ARE ALQUAYS LOW PICIS, ALQUAYS" AND WHERE YOU CAN BUY PECICCIS AND USE YOUR FOOD STAMPS AT MIDNIGHT. This really sucks, keep these wets thinking they are in mexiCANT and they will never move foward. Corp. Qualmart is helping keep mexiCANTS down.

I'm not sure people appreciate the destructive force that Wal-Mart represents to the small business sector. No one can compete with Wal-Mart, due to its sheer size. Wal-Mart has the unique ability to set its own prices, unlike other chain corporations. For example, Wal-Mart has been known to go to its suppliers in Asia and demand lower prices for their products. Quite often, since Wal-Mart represents anywhere from 60-80% of their business, they have to bend to Wal-Mart's requests and begin slashing environmental and safety precautions that were put in place and, in addition, extend working hours by as much as 20%. The result: supplier employees that become limbless, sick, or worse, replaced for younger, no-experienc, teen-aged employees. This how Wal-Mart could afford to sell items at a "discounted" price.

And why they identify a location to open a new store, they have been known to devour a slew a small businesses. Who can compete with a corporation that has the ability to manipulate its prices via manipulation of its suppliers? That answer is no one. That is why so many communities throughout this nation has limited the size of the big-box stores, which was a specific response to Wal-Mart's aggression.

A few years back, the LA Times wrote an excellent series about this corporation, and how it has wreaked havoc on U.S. towns and companies worldwide. As a response, Wal-Mart began donating to charitable causes and began a campaign to polish its reputation. There has been some success, but the effects still remain--devastation for the small business sector.
