Potential lawsuit slows Glendora Wal-Mart expansion proposal

City attorneys are reviewing a letter and threat of litigation against a Wal-Mart expansion, officials said.
Cory Biggs has filed an objection to the Glendora Wal-Mart remodel.
Cory Biggs who was hired by ERICA LANDMANN-JOHNSEY and the Recalled Glendora Mayor John Harrold's Group to bring the "Friends of Glendora" (ERICA LANDMANN-JOHNSEY ,KRISTIN PARISI, JOHN HARROLD, MARK SMITH) action against Glendora.
Briggs estimates that he's filed at least six lawsuits against Wal-Mart since 2004, including suits filed in Barstow, Rialto and Murrieta.
There may not be multiple "Murrietans for Smart Growth," as the nonprofit's name would suggest, but the attorney representing the group recently produced one, in response to a court order.
The Judge ordered Briggs to produce one member of the group that lived or worked in Murrieta. Briggs produced Richard Lawrence who lives in San Diego and has no business affiliation to Murrieta, let alone Riverside County, according to court documents.
"This lawsuit has every appearance of legal extortion," Barstow Mayor Lawrence Dale said in a statement. "It is my opinion that the Briggs Law Corp. is no better than an 'ambulance chasing' attorney, but instead of chasing accident victims they're chasing the deep pockets of Wal-Mart."
Another Cory Briggs shake down...
Cory Briggs is, really really concerned about the Albertsons in northwest Ontario.
Why is Briggs worried about the Kroger unit (Ralphs) and the SuperValu unit (Albertsons), but not about WalMart or Target?
Well, I won't say the name of the organization that links the two grocery stores, but its initials are UFCW.
You probably already know how UFCW feels about WalMart.
Of more than 1,400 Target stores employing more than 300,000 people nationwide, not one has a union. Employees at various stores say an anti-union message and video is part of the new-employee orientation. At stores in the Twin Cities, where Target is headquartered, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union Local 789 has been trying for several years to help Target employees organize, with little luck.
"People ask what the difference between Wal-Mart and Target is," said UFCW organizer Bernie Hesse. "Nothing, except that Wal-Mart is six times bigger."
So, in response to Matt Munson's question regarding "what accommodations...could be made" to get the WalMart in Ontario approved, it's really very simple - unionize the entire WalMart workforce, and Briggs will cease his opposition to the project.

The Miramar principal and her students were simply trying to sing “God Bless America” to honor the fallen heroes of 9-11.
The manager called Pembroke Pines police to have them removed from the property.
Workers in Elwood, Illinois, have been on strike since September 15, 2012.
They are protesingt what Warehouse Workers for Justice called "management's illegal retaliation against workers, attempting to present the company their concerns about wage theft, unsafe conditions and discrimination."
Workers at a Southern California warehouse that supplies Wal-Mart also went on strike last September 2012, for 15 days.
Many Americans feel this was the same style of operations that Wal-Mart used to get so many stores built in the USA..
So far Wal-Mart officials have refused to take ploygraph exams. The question is, did wal-mart use bribes to build USA stores?
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. says internal investigation into its Mexico subsidiary paid bribes to get stores built continues in Mexico.
The New York Times reports, 19 store sites across Mexico were the target of Wal-Mart bribes.
