They need to KEEP THE TEACHERS and get rid of some of the paraprofessionals. For example: there are too many office people/titles at high school. Mrs Garza is an experienced and hard working secretary-KEEP HER!! The rest of the positions/staff can be consolidated or can be delegated additional task. Dr Salinas just needs to sit down and re-evaluate his options. Me personally I would scrutinize EVERY office staff evaluations SD performance. I would ensure that every Secretary, Counselor, PEIMS clerks, Hall monitors, Cafeteria Staff, Janitors, and whatever other Paraprofessional title is out there IS PERFORMING at the HIGHEST level of expectation- not the minimum. Save our teachers and restructure other positions.

BUT. When has the San Diego ISD supported their faculty and staff. WHAT ? And , go against the spineless school board members who help them. " milk the cow." Nothing changes in San Diego, the student's best interest has never ever been a priority. Isn't that sad. The school administration as the city and county officials are a bunch of self-serving , egotistical S O B 'S. it is all about then and what it ca get. And the beat goes on ........EDUCATION FOR OUR STUDENTS? Your kidding

U know. Some teachers could be leaving because they work their butts off for ur kids and if ur "perfect angels" make one bad grade ur in there saying the teacher graded wrong or some bs. U all listen to the rumors that come from the cafeteria staff and the janitors. Grow up and gets some facts before u start running your mouth on topix.

How can we blame our teachers or our paraprofessional. This kids now a days are spoil. There are some that go to school to advance in life, but the majority are there because the have to. It all starts at home with the parents. Back 15-20 years ago if we got a bad grade, our parents wouldn't question the teachers not the counselor. They would question me. They wanted to know how much effort I put in. Lets stop putting the blame on other people. Blame ourselves( parents). Make your kid go to school to learn and not to be baby sat. Tell them how they r doing and be involved. At the end of the day if you think your kid is not learning or being challenged enough, home school them. I doubt you want to do that because you have a busy schedule. And again there is where it starts, with us

I agree that many kids are spoiled, and also that "teaching" begins at home, but the main TOPIC here is about Staff & Budget cost. If SDISD needs to Revamp-than start with the employees performance evaluations. There are MANY employees that are not performing at the level that they should be. That includes everyone from PEIMS Clerk, High School Counselors, Teachers, Janitors, Principals, Substitutes, etc., etc. One big problem is employee attendance. Another big problem is employee performance. Another one would be employee behavior. Some of these people abuse their position and use it to their advantage. Abuse it in a sense where they feel its OK to take their Little Ones to work with them at the High School on a daily basis. This Is a HUGE Liability for SDISD. The High School is not a Day Care! Not only is it a HUGE Liability, but a Huge distraction to OTHER students/employees, and also a bigger DISTRACTION to their parent (the employee). So please consider this information when making your budget cuts.

What happens in San Diego is typical America= EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES. No one steps up and takes responsibility for their role in this situation. Our school, our children and our accountability are all out of control! It starts with our administration and our parenting. I think if parents would use parenting skills of the 80's our kids would be different. Every parent who has a child in the HS knows exactly what I'm talking about. Our parents said no and it was NO. They got a call from school and you better have been quick to explain and it better have been the truth because they were going to look into it. We got in trouble at school you were in trouble at home! Now parents make excuses for kids. Get real if you have problems getting them to throw the trash, wash dishes, or talking back at home do you really think they are model students. Of course not! Our administration at HS is weak. Poor attendance starts there. The campus is a reflection on them. Nothing is confidential, it really becomes a day care, and too many persons recieving a free paycheck. Piems clerk DOES her job! Mandy and wife on the orher hand DONT! Remember there is a huge age difference and HE might be the insecure one demanding she be there.

. Ok let's talk about cuts. If people say that the teachers and paraprofessional should be evaluated and down size, is that the best thing. If they supposedly are not doing enough for our kids why do we make it harder for them by giving them less resources. As it is they get the short end of the stick. Name some positions that have a bachelors or masters and make 50,000. The guy next door with a GED working at whataburger makes that and does not have to put up with so many ungrateful people.( this is not meant for you ). The teachers and paraprofessional at other districts that meet or excel in academics took the same classes and test to become what they are. But they got one thing that some of us don't have, the parents support. It's not easy being underpaid, disrespected and unappreciated.

I empathise with you! You probably have a Bachelors degree and thats great, but the problem here is to revamp the system and To do away with those individuals who are not living up to the expectation of the job requirements. And that includes doing away EVEN with the individuals with a Bachelors degree. If they're not performing they need to be replaced with individuals who can live up to the expectations of the job. This is Serious people!! WAKE UP!! The school needs Educators and Professionals who want to succeed in life and want to see OUR Students succeed in Life. SDISD does not need staff who are irresponsible and can't even make arrangements for proper child care. Geeeezz!!
