THANK YOU Mr. Coleman. Finally, someone has taken action on this. This intersection has been dangerous for years and NOTHING has been done until you came along. It's sad it took a tragic accident for something to happen though. Mr. Coleman has my VOTE!!
thank you John

My neighbor just called me and told me what was on line in the marin IJ. The news is spreading fast as this is a victory for all who ever wanted to take on the city of novato. Yes you can win as Mr Coleman and his committee has proven. I only wish the four members of the commitee were running for office as they would all get this household vote.mr coleman will get four votes from this house. Thank you John Coleman and i hope you win a seat for the council.

Why do you have to "take on" the city? Have you have actually tried asking the city for something instead of demanding, complaining, or threatening? I guess "us against them" is the way to get issues resolved. I find it funny the congratulatory strokes are coming from people who acknowledge the crossing has been a problem for years, but likely did nothing to see about changing the situation themselves. Way to pass the buck.
By the way, I suspect the one Coleman shill posting here is going to get mighty tired trying to stuff anonymous forums with campaign rhetoric.

I just read todayin the Marin County Sheriffs booking log (www.marinsheriff.org ) about a guy named Brian Hirchert of San Rafael who has been booked into jail on his FOURTH DUI in the past few months, sound familiar?
Here we go again !!! How long will it be before a guy like this is in the paper after he kills some kid in a crosswalk? He, and those like him, should be removed from endangering others. He is a murderer waiting to happen.

I have a beautiful, smart 10 year old daughter and a guy like this frightens me. GET THESE PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS. Are the judges, prosicutors and potential juriers listening?

Three laudatory comments about Mr. Coleman from three different people, all from AOL, all bringing up his political campaign. Hmm, that seems a bit of a coincidence.
I have no idea what Mr. Coleman's political views are, they may be something everyone in the community can support. I hope so. However, what exactly is "YES WON THIS FIGHT" supposed to mean? If Mr. Coleman is in any way trying to exploit what happened to the Osheroffs for his own political gain, I expect he's going to have a short career in public life.

Oh Mr. Coleman, you are my hero, you are so wonderful, so talented, so self-serving, so pathetic in your shameless explotation of this tragic event, so brave in your quest to fight City Hall! Why stop at City Council? Coleman for Congress!!

It's nice that they've taken another step to make this intersection more safe, but it's hardly "controversial" as the headline says. With that logic ANY crosswalk becomes controversial when a drunk driver cruises through it and kills someone.

And if John Coleman is a new face running for city council, cool, I look forward to hearing more about him. But aside from this accomplishment, I haven't heard of him doing more than any city council member. What's with the hype?

This is now the best maintained intersection in Marin County. Freshly painted white lines. Recently trimmed shrubbery. All the same, I'm still keeping my eye out for drunken sot roaring through there on his 600 lb. motorcycle.

Well, we now know that a John Coleman is running for the Novato City Council. Is this the same Coleman who ran for the same spot a few years ago and lost. Now, he thinks he has an issue to run on? Will his chest beating display for public safety propel him into office this time? Or is Coleman cravenly attempting to find some political advantage by using the past tragic event to get his name out there? This doesn't smell right.

Speaking of smells, once again current city council member, Carole Dillon Knutson, never misses an opportunity to grab a quote in the press. Now, she is pleased that something has finally been done to make the intersection safer! Hey Carole, how long have you been in office? How long have you been aware of the unsafe intersection in your own neighborhood? Why did it take you so long to react?

Is Mr. Coleman taking how-to-get-media-exposure lessons from council member Knutson?

There needs to be a "companying engineering study" to paint white lines on crosswalk. Only in Marin.

i am glad to see that after a year of hard work for the commitee of three in my neighborhood finally got the cross walks installed. You need to give credit where credit is due.

And how exactly is a cross walk gonna stop an intoxicated driver who has run several stop lights/signs?!?!?!
Any Novatoian knows the most dangerous intersection for pedestrians is the on diablo between redwood and novato blvd where the safeway is, even if one car stops for someone it's rare the other cars get a clue and slow down too. They need to install one of those light up cross walks like they have in petaluma but I guess you need several fatalities before some councilman deems it worthy

Longtime Novato resident John Coleman filed paperwork Tuesday to run for city council and promised not to take any money or post any signs.

“I don't want your money, because I don't want to owe anybody any favors,” Coleman said.“I'll never have a sign out anywhere in this town, except my lawn.”

One plank of Coleman’s platform is to create a stop for the SMART commuter train downtown near the historic train depot. This stop would be for weekends and holidays only so you can get off downtown Novato He said that he’s found contractors who are willing to do the work free of charge. He also stated anyone who wants to come to Novato by train must get off two blocks north of the Atherton avenue exit
. How do you get down town ????
“I'm a leader, not a follower,” said Coleman. The retired Teamster delivery truck driver has lived in Novato for 28 years ..(This has been copied and pasted here by a friend )

We the neighbors want to cross the street to the mailbox. We also do not know why this was tied to the accident as this crosswalk is on the east side and the accident was
in the west crosswalk . Please read the article again and maybe you will get what was said by a committie member. It took over one year to get what we wanted. Thank you

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Sagittarius

Mercury turning retrograde in your house of finances carries a rather unseasonal message, because it's telling you to pay attention to your finances over the next few weeks. If you already know that you've overspent this month, you won't need to be told that a few economies are just around the corner. Get the facts straight and pay attention to the small print. You may also have to make some adjustments to an intimate relationship so it can move into another phase.
