Thongs do not equate being a slut, but you must remember that thongs have only been mainstream for about 20 years now. While thongs have been around for decades it was typically entertainers that wore them (Madonna and Cher in the 80's#, your local stripper has worn them for; well forever, and on and on. The typical average woman/girl had thongs but only ever wore them to avoid VPL for that special dress for the wedding, ball, etc.... A thong was used for a single function, not daily use. So when your parents see a thong, their first thought is of: Stripper, promiscuous, naughty, etc... Unfortunately you are the transition generation. Just as my nephew has never seen a telephone with a cord on it, your kids will grow up and think that #if they choose to wear thongs as a teenager) that it’s no big deal and that it’s always been that way. Good luck convincing them, but you may just have to endure until you’re free again.
