How Washington Can Help Prevent Global Warming

Redmond, Washington. WashPIRG, the Washington Public Interest Group, has launched a grassroots campaign in Redmond to bring more clean and renewable energy to our state. Washington’s demand for energy continues to rise and unless we address this need promptly and supply energy through clean sources, the effects of global warming will destroy the famously pristine wilderness of Washington. In the absence of an effective national energy policy, US emissions of carbon dioxide almost doubled between 1960 and 2001 and will continue to raise another 40 percent within the next 20 years according to the EIA (Energy Information Administration). It is imperative for Washington to address this issue at a state level.
Washington currently receives less than one percent of all of its energy from clean sources, and scores a “D” in air quality. This is why WashPIRG is part of a coalition to get the signatures of 310,000 Washington-state voters by June 30, qualifying I-937 for this year’s ballot. "We are confident I-937 will make the ballot," said Meagan Dixon, the Puget Sound organizer for the I-937 campaign. "We have over 2,200 volunteers who have signed up to help collect signatures. We can see the volunteers are bringing the signatures in at the rate they need to." I-937 would require fifteen percent of all energy in our state to come from clean, renewable sources such as wind and solar by 2020. I-937 would also make utilities offer low-cost energy and conservation measures which would reduce energy bills and decrease waste. Similar initiatives to I-937 were already passed in twenty states nationwide, including Texas.
Energy and utility companies want Washington to build more fossil fuel and nuclear plants to solve Washington’s growing demand for energy, yet they do not address the consequences which these solutions will have on our health and environment, or their high expense. When water levels have hit record lows in the past, we had to turn to more coal and natural gas for our energy needs. As a result, Washingtonians paid more for electricity and the state had to rely on the open market for energy. While natural gas prices have decreased since last fall, most experts predict that we have reached the end of cheap oil and natural gas. NW Energy Coalition executive director Sara Patton noted Washingtonians' overwhelming support for energy efficiency and new renewable resources. "Given the volatile prices and increasingly uncertain supplies of traditional energy resources, it's high time we took full advantage of all the renewable resources we have right here in Washington state and the region," Patton said. "This initiative will propel us down that road."
Washington utilities and some of their allies in the energy industry continue to block efforts to promote clean energy in Washington and at the federal level. In order to get I-937 on this year’s ballot, WashPIRG needs to continue building public support. Campaign staffers will be in neighborhoods throughout Redmond asking residents to sign I-937, fundraise for the cause, and to show their support by becoming members of WashPIRG.“As a grassroots organization, we rely on our members for political and financial support,” said Dave Rogers, WashPIRG citizen outreach director.“Anyone who gets involved with WashPIRG brings us one step closer to solving global warming.”

It is utterly shocking but not unexpected to see the "masses" gravitate towards the false belief that we humans are 100% responsible for the recent increases in world wide climatic temperature changes.
They are all being fooled by the false presentation of data points which yes do show a warm trend in the last 400 years BUT go back to the year 1000 and you will see another plateau of global warming.
That warm trend was followed by a 400 year mini-iceage which the Earth only came out of at the end of the 1800's hence any NORMAL cyclic warming trend which we are in is only the planet exiting this recent mini-iceage.
Claiming that humans are the prime contributors to this exiting out of a mini-iceage is such a gross fabrication of the facts. Forcing all of civilization to suffer because of these lies is a crime if all summed up would be worse than any crime against humanity!
