Contractor kills deer, gets charged for it
A landscaper working on the Southeast 20th Street construction project, who seems to bring a bow and arrow with him to work, will likely be charged with a misdemeanor for killing a deer with the weapon.

he city does not have the authority to outlaw hunting and the city knows it. The only thing i fault him for is not harvesting the kill. You rich folk think you got it all figured out except now youíre killing deer with your Audiís and nobody gets the meat and bear are eating your trash and theres not much you can do about it. Good job earth muffins.

City Attorney Bruce Disend gave the staff report. This ordinance has changed since the
first reading. The ordinance previously prohibited hunting in the City. Last week the City
Attorney was contacted by State Fish and Wildlife who informed him that the City does not have
jurisdiction over hunting and cannot prohibit hunting. Therefore the ordinance has been changed
to remove all reference to the word hunting and substituting the prohibition of the use of
weapons that could cause injury to wildlife. Several exemptions were added as well.
