Is it legal for the chairman of the board to be able to serve during this process, when her stepfather is a candidate?

Yep...the state schools' nepotism law has very vague wording...step relationships are excluded. An other odd instance, you can't hire your aunt or uncle, but you can hire your niece or nephew..
As Good As Anyone Else

YeAH I agree that John was a bit too eager to support all the school job cuts....and I do believe that will come back to bite him in the butt! Live and learn...or may not!

Stanley Holbrook is the right choice whether
he is made superintendant or not.

You dummies, how do you think Rooster Risner beat Stanley in the Magistrate race? Dr Hardin sold Stanley out for Rooster. That is one of the reasons why Stanley is seeking the Superintendant. He will keep politics out of the school system. Stanley will not be supporting Dr Hardin in anything.

...no I never had Mr. Holbrook as a teacher, but
I worked along side with him at the high school for quite awhile. He was the main supervisor at
the high school's vocational building and did an
outstanding job as well. His grandmother was my
teacher though, back in the mid 1950's on Cow Creek of Johnsonfork...she was well thought of as
an educator and as a neighbor. I have known Mr.
Holbrook and his family a long time.
