A cure for cancer?

Human beings are strange creatures. In this thread the suffering of those with mental illness was used as a defense against those who were being called insensitive toward those with cancer.
As for the comment about God not being a punishing God; wrong. Is Cancer a punishment? Therein lies the debate.

Yes sheep I am a retired oncologist and nuclear medicine tech..I know how much progress has been made. For example,in just a few years breast cancer patients have went from a 0% survival rate to a 90%.My wife was diagnosed with cancer, went through 8 surgeries,an experimental chemo therapy, with a 10% chance of a five year survival. That was eight years ago,so I know that treatment works, progress is being made, and we can't ever lose faith in humanity.
Having that blind faith in humanity is a dangerous thing. And you didn't answer my questions. I am not disputing that there have been improvements to the quality of life that a cancer sufferer can have. I am not disputing that cancer treatment is much more advanced today than years ago. What I am disputing is whether a cure will ever be used. What I am saying is that there is probably a known cure at this point but it CANNOT be used because of the consequences to society, economy, food supply, etc. that would follow. Do you think that if there was a cure that it would be used? If so, how would the world deal with over population?

I HAVE A SISTER WITH CANCER RIGHT NOW WHO LIVES THERE ON MINE FORK. TRUST ME SHE WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR ANYONE, NOW SHE CANT. SHE IS CONFINED TO HER HOME BECAUSE OF SO MANY DESISES THAT ARE OUT. WHEN SHE IS ABLE SHE GOES TO LEXINGTON AND COMES BACK HOME AND FOR DAYS SHE IS SO SICK SHE CANT HOLD HER HEAD UP. IT TAKES A SORRY LOW LIFE TO POST NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT CANCER. I HOPE THAT HMM ONE DAY WILL GO THRU THE SAME THING THAT THESE PEOPLE THAT DO HAVE OR HAVE HAD THAT IT BITES HIM OR HER IN THE BUTT. TO ME CANCER IS THE MOSR HORRIFYING THING TO HAVE, AND SEEING YOUR LOVED ONE OR A STRANGER WITH CANCER IS AWFUL. MY MOTHER IN LAW IS IN REMISSION RIGHT NOW AFTER GOING THRU PAIN FOR SO LONG. SO PLEASE THINK ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES FEELINGS AND THEIR LOVED ONES.

Well put Lori. I'm glad we can see things differently but still respect each other's opinion. You are obviously proud of the job that your son is doing and I can sure appreciate that. I am just so opposed to both wars that we are fighting that I sometimes get a little carried away. I feel very strongly about why these wars started and why they continue but I don't mean to offend you at all.

Billy Scotts Grandson

----------

He is a patient at Duke Hospital, Durham, NC. He has just completed his chemo therapy regiment and will go through a 21 day period of building him back up as the chemo has been one that the doctor's said would take him as low as a human could go in order to kill the cancer cells.
Will is in need of a bone marrow transplant. However, as of a few days ago, the doctor's said there is not a match on the National Donor registry.(7 Million donors are on that list).
I(Debbie) am in the process of working with the National Bone Marrow Program and our church about holding a donor drive in late March and at the same time a blood drive. Will has already had to have some blood and will need more in the future. I will let you know the dates of the donor drive and blood drive as soon as I have the confirmed details. However, right now, I would like to get the word out that people can contribute to The Will Scott Fund to help with the medical expenses and care of Will. Contributions can be made payable to The Will Scott Fund and sent to Arthur State Bank, 100 East Main Street, Union, SC 29379
Will will probably be at Duke for 6 Months.
THIS WAS SENT TO ME IN AN EMAIL FROM BILLY SCOTTS DAUGHTER (DEBBIE)

THIS IS JUST A TINY BIT OF WHAT A CANCER PATIENT OS A CHILD GOES THRU, NOT COUNTING THE FAMILY.

When Chemotherapy is the treatment of Cancer, it takes the immune system as low as it can go to kill the cancerous cells...then, at times, remission occurs. Often cancer returns. Then what? The immune system has already been wiped out by Chemotherapy. It appears Chemo is a hit and miss approach that misses more than it hits.

One has to question why more progress has not been made in defeating Cancer and as stated by someone previously, big money is in the treatment of, not cure.

In addition, after considering what hmmm said about Cancer keeping the population down, ask yourselves why the FDA is so lax with the foods we consume; even going as far as to place warnings that some of the ingredients are cancer-causing.

You are asking logical questions. Those are the same kinds of questions that led me to start this thread. Millions die with cancer because world leaders know that it is a good way to "thin the herd". We are controlled in many ways even to the point of being killed by preventable diseases. But most people still refuse to believe that mankind has reached such an evil point.

I am just dumbstruck by the words I have just read....You wrote, "I still don't believe they should ever release a cure to the disease" and then, "No offense to anyone with cancer"....I DARE YOU to travel to Tennessee and tell parents whose children are in St. Jude's DYING RIGHT NOW FROM CANCER those exact same words....I can GUARANTEE you wouldn't have the guts....Of all the things I have seen on here, this has to be the stupidest statements ever...THAT'S just simply MY view!

I too am unhappy with this remark. I have cancer now, 54 years old and have dhildren and grandchildren. I will be having surgery on Marsh 10 to remove both breast and lymph nodes. How dare this person put something on here like that. This person evidently doesn'thave or care for his faamily. I would like to find their reasoning. Drugs and alchol are a chosen way to live or die. CANCER IS NOT A CHOSEN DISEASE. We did NOT ask for this and have no control over it, on the other hand, a person on drugs or alchol can get help and maybe STOP their addiction. Why should they be any better than US and why shouldn't we be able to live as well os they are. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENT. A CANCER PATIENT, myself.

Well, concidering how many people DO die of cancer, if they did release a cure, the population would be WAY too high.. The consequenses would be horrible. My grandfrather died of cancer, but.. I still don't think they should ever release a cure to the disease. Although, I think that addiction will be the disease take over the world, not cancer. Addiction causes people to kill, they get diseases, & they over-dose, so I REALLY believe that addiction will be the root cause to the end of the world. Just my opinion, No offence to anyone with cancer.. That's just simply my view.:)[that was a little off the topic, I know.]
What makes people on drugs and alchol any better to live than we are? I have` CANCER and wil be having surgery on March 10. If my cancer KILLS ANYONE, it will be ME, I don't do drugs nor do I drank alchol.
DRUGS AND ALCHOL NOT ONLY KILL THE PERSON ON IT BUT ALSO CAN KILL OTHERS ON ACCIDENTS AND MURDER, OVERDOSES. MY CANCER WILLONLY KILL ME IF the GOOD LORD ABOVE WANTS ME. How dare you to get on here and post a comment like that. As far as NOT OFFENDING someone with cancer, YOU HAVE and NOT JUST ME.
WE as Cancer PATIENTS HAVE A RIGHT TO LIFE the same as you do. The population wouldn't be as bad if the guys kept their ZIPPERS ZIPPED, and the women kept their PANTIES UP. AND,
THAT'S MY OPINION so there!

I pray for you as I know that you are going through an unspeakable struggle right now. Continue to fight and never give up. I would love to see a cure for cancer soon. But with that said, my purpose for starting this thread was to give my opinion that there has already been a cure developed but that it would never be released because our government knows what the consequences would be. I would love to be wrong about this and wake up tomorrow to the headlines that cancer has been cured but I know that is not going to happen. Please don't be offended by my opinion because all I am saying is that the disease you are battling is being used by our government and other governments to control the masses. But just remember that God is the one who can help you, not the doctors.

I have an MR/DD aunt, that was just last week diagnosed with Cancer. She is a little over 50 years old. The cancer she was diagnosed with is "the fast kind" as the doctor put it. It is in her colon, and there is a canerous polyp that is embedded in her colon. She is supossed to go to Lexington Wednesday to have surgery, and she will probably have to wear one of colonostamy bags (spelling?) on her side.
My mom was talking to her today, and she was crying, and saying that she had a dream that my grandfather and grandmother came to her and told her they would be coming for her soon. She was crying and saying that she wishes they could give her something to "make this old cancer stuff go away."
How I wish there was a cure for cancer right now. How can anyone say that they don't ever want people to have a cure. I really don't know how to respond that to statement.
Hello Kitty, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comment. I have cancer now and I assuer you that it is by no way any fun. I suffer and it is to be expected. The kemo makes me so sick that I can't hold anthing down and don't want to even look at food much less than eat it. To say that we don't need we don't need a cure for cancer is just down right stupid. Maybe if there was someone they were close to, a son, daughter, husband or wife then maybe this person would change his or her mind. That is if they love them they wouldn't want them to suffer and be in pain. I feel sorry for this person because they have no idea what is in store for them in the long run. God will take care of them. I do want to say it is important to keep the faith because with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Thanks again for your comment. A cancer patient.

I too am a cancer patient and along with cancer patients comment, I THANK YOU ALSO. There are so many of us and I think it is in the genes, if you have it, you hav it. I had an aunt that gad5-6 daughters all of them had breast cancer and so do I. My aunt didn't and my mother, aho has gone to be with God as of September did not have breast cancer. As for the man saying we would be over populated if there was a cure for cancer, well I guess there is just some people put just DON'T know what GOD CAN and WILL do to them. As far as I know, we have the right to life the same as anybody else. Thank you again and God Bless you also. Sylvia

I also have lost many of family members over the years because of cancer, and "cancer patient"I hope and pray you beat it.I use to smoke a lot well for 14 years and I lost family members because of cancer, and I woke up one day and started thinking about it and threw my pack of smokes in the trash and said no more.I'm not trying to put anyone down for smoking thats their buisness, but sometimes you have to make decisions in life and that was one good one I made. But we all will be thinking of you,and keep us posted and god bless you.

well roadrunner the days are getting really close for you. i hope that if i ever have to face what you are facing that i can be as strong as you are. just keep the faith that God will take care of you. yes you know who i am and if there is anything you want or need all you have to do is call me and if i have it so do you. And if after you get home if you need me or anything i can get you just have your daughter call me and i will do the best i can to make sure i get it for you. if you need to talk just call me and i can call you back i have unlimited long distance. just call and say call me and i will call you right back. i know we have had our trials and times over the 50 some years that we have been together but i still love you and pray for you everyday. i will have the church praying for you also. may god be with you when you go for the surgery on tuesday. but remember i do love you and if you need me i am just a phone call away.
i just wish a lot more people on here felt the same as i do about helping one another. it sure would make a more pleasant place to live.
