I find it very interesting that the Magoffin County High School was structurally unsound, and much to hazardous for our children to be in. Not only was it improperly inspected, but the knowledge of them endangering our kids was all "Hushed up". I think this is BEYOND outrageous, and has a community we need to punish those who where so recklessly irresponsible! I understand things where hard after the tornado, but we could have found a less dangerous solution!

If you check into the matter a little deeper, you will find that the structural issues with the high school were not initially found, but rather after some reconstruction of some know issues was undertaken. On the other hand, how about being thankful that nothing bad happened rather than to want to "punish" someone....no one person was a fault here....

Oh! The issues with my daughters school wasen't intainatally found! That makes it all better. Only no, they was not intainatally found? How thorough was the inspection after the tornado? What processes of the inspection was not idequte to detect them? What changes made to the normal protocol would have found the issues?

That's the right attitude to have, totally. As long as every one's ok we can just ignore it. If something had happend, and hundreds of kids had got injuries, well, at least no one died, and so forth? That's not acceptable. How's accountable for the inspection? If I missed something that could make a septic tank collapse, damage property, ect. I would lose my job. So, tell us, who was responsible for the inspections?

I don't believe the person making that post said to just ignore it. But the facts are that much of the damage was inside walls and not detected when the building was inspected. It wasn't until they began tearing out some walls that had cracked PRIOR to the tornado that these other indicators of structural issues began to be found. So unless you are an engineer with expertise in this field, why not leave the judgement calls to the professionals!

I remember when they had a Beta Club and they would do their show toward the end of the year. I would look forward to that every year. I miss that!
