Hello,I have a loved one in this nursing home.
This person, which will remain nameless for there privacy.
On serveral times,my loved one has fallen, and some are good to call and let us know, and sometimes they wait at least 2 hours to call.
I'm being told they are suppose to check on these residents at every 2 hours. I noticed when me and my family come down there, some of the workers, will haul ass to other rooms, and you tell them a concern, and they will look at you like you are DUMB.Also,it takes them forever just to do anything. But,I have called many times, and the main nurses fail to call the family back with any concern. But,i don't know what else can be done. Our family member has went down so fast, and yes they do fail to give the proper care. When they are dehydrated,no IV is giving, pain, takes forever to get a anything.Changed, well hrs on that. Our family is getting to a point, that something has to give, and I know they wouldn't want to be in some of there shoes, and get to where they can't walk, talk, and have them to raise there voices to the sick.I'd be ashamed at the things i've seen and so hard to bite your tounge and be polite. So i dont know what else to say.To the people that work there,PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT AND THINK HOW YOU,OR A LOVED ONE WAS LIKE THIS.HOW WOULD YOUR FEELINGS BE?HALF OF THEM ARE SO DEPRESSED,IT KILLS ME TO SEE THEM LIKE THAT.JUST THINK,IS ALL IM ASKING.I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO COME THERE NOR MY FAMILY AND FIND OUR LOVED ONE DEAD.THANKS FOR READING.

This isn't the only nursing home in the area, so
if you are so sure your loved one is not being
treated right here, why do you leave it in this
nursing home? Also, there is management there
that will address the issue and if you see something happening that should not be happening,
you are doing your loved one and the rest of the
residents an injustice by not taking it to the
management...everybody has a boss over him/her,
therefore, everyone has someone they must answer
to, we just need to go through the proper channels.
Please, don't 'just bite your tongue and look away', the residents need someone to speak up for
them when there is reason for it. It is your loved
one, don't falter until you know it is treated
right!

The current management is the problem! There is so much bickering that goes on there it is unreal. If employees talk to the DON then the administrator is mad at the employee. If the employee talks to the ADON then the DON and administrator are both mad. It reminds me of grade school, if you talk to so and so then I won't be your friend. The BS just goes on and on. I feel really sad for the floor workers there because they are caught up in managements mess. One would think that management would pull together for the betterment of this much needed facility in Magoffin County but sadder yet for the residents. This has been an ongoing problem for years now. There are some really good employees there that give 100%. Too bad Extended Care doesn't seem to acknowledge the overall problem and do something about it. Maybe there would be less lawsuits?

Extendicare does care and they are trying to fix the problems. There are a lot of lawsuits against this place. You really should remove your loved one and put them somewhere safe. There isn't anyone there that cares about the people there. The only concern of the employees is the money.

I have to disagree with what you said about there not being any employees who care. I happen to know that some care, and care very much. There could be more staff here to help workers though, some of which don't even have time to take their lunch breaks! You see, some do care, and some in management positions care as well, but without enough help sometimes things don't go as well as they could.

You are such an as$. There are so many employees there who do care about their residents! I beg you to walk one fu@king day in their shoes and then come on here and say that!!! The public has no idea what the employees deal with every day and believe me if they didn't care they would not be there with what little pay they get!!

You both say basically the same thing and then you call the other
person 'such an as$'? You both are right, you know, well maybe
except the name calling.

there may be a couple of people who care about the residents there but not a lot. Most of the employees there are either there simply for the pay check or because they can't get a job anywhere else. One reason or another. Nurses who shouldn't be working as nurses, administrative personell who only got lucky and passed a test.

Extendicare or the state need to clean house and start over.

That is a bunch of BULL. Extendicare does not give a crap about the residents, only their money. That is where the problem lies, Extendicare. They will not give needed funds to hire the number of employees needed to take care of a facility of this size. Did you know that if they are 3 or 4 beds empty in that 150+ facility, a cna must leave early from each wing? Bet the public isn't aware of that fact. The only way this facility will provide the adequate care that it needs is for extendicare to sell out....which I heard that they have. Thank God. But I'll wager the next corporation will be just as bad or worse than the current one. It is a business folks, and what runs a business? Profits. They could care less about these people, residents and employees. They are nothing but cattle to extendicare in my opinion. People up there do try but it is hard to provide adequate care on a nothing budget.

I have to disagree. I think that if Extendicare sells out it is because the problems that the employees creat are way too much for the coorporation to deal with and they would rather sell to someone who is better able to handle the problems.

I think that if there is a budget deficit it is because they don't want to pay more money to employees who don't deserve their job and the administration refuses to get rid of the trouble makers.

Get rid of the problematic employees and watch things change. I bet that if someone else does take over things will be about the same or maybe worse. I really do think they need to re-evaluate their personel.

LOL I work there and if I was just wanting a pay check I would go flip a burger somewhere than put up with what I put up with. Half of the time u don't get a lunch bc of bein under staffed. If we didn't care we would go ahead and take our lunches and the heck with them, but we don't we do the best we can with what we have. we don't make enough for what we do so it really ain't for a pay check. I love my residents just like family. and my co-workers feel the same way. So yeah come and take a walk in my shoes and see if ur doing it just for the pay check. most of the time u just have to big of a demanding family. you know there is only 4 aides to a wing and on night shift there is just 3 and we have over 40 patients so ur family member is not the only one we have to care for.

and to the person who started this if they are receiving such bad care then take them home and quit ur bitching! and don't say bc ur sick or something there is always outsiders u can hire

Well let me just say that you obviously have no idea what you are talking about! I am employed there as well I had a job when I began there making the same amount of money. Now if I was only there for the paycheck then why did I choose to switch. Before you get on here and start bitching, why don' consider what we do? You place your loved one in the facility on our care. Half of the residents doesn't ever have visitors and we are the only people they see. Yes I admit we don't get to spend and extreme amount of time with each one but that is just not possible. We are the ones who must wash each and everyone of their faces each morning, we are the ones who carry their food to them and and then sit down and feed many of them. We are the ones who bathes and showers them. We are the ones who turn them over in bed and change their briefs. Now if you are one of these family that is disrespectful to us and demands that we stay in one room for an hour or wait on you hand and foot then yes we probably do run from you so we can get our job done. The point is think again about what you are saying! We work our behinds off to take care of these people and no we don't get paid near enough. If you really think its that bad then take them home and hire someone to do it!!

Short and simple. If you don't like the place, don't diss the nursing home, just remove your family member and put them somewhere else. It's that easy. Then you can complain about the other place they get moved to.

So sorry to burst your bubble, but I worked up there for many years, I am right. I will agree that there is a few employees that slack their job duties, but they are very few and they end up quiting shortly anyway, but the corporation personnel they send in,( because too many residents is being sent out to the hospital, and that costs corporate if they are not in the building or they want to know why there is three of four beds empty in the entire facility or why key employees such as nurses or aides have a few hours overtime) have inservices and never talk about the care being provided to it's residents, but why they are spending more money on this particular facility. They complain that too many briefs are being bought, so to remove this problem, they have all briefs looked in the storage shelters outside all through the weekends. They know that some family members will buy their family the needed briefs and bring them in or the cna's will buy them thereselves, and that will save corporate money!! Clever huh? Or they will instruct nurses that when they must change a foley cath, they should just clean the old one that was just removed with soap and water and use it again.....Of course all of this is said in a whisper. What I tell you is true, if the Lord in heaven sends my soul to hell tonight....I am truthful. There is many other things I could tell that would scare the daylights out of family members but I do not. The reason is those nurses, aides, kitchen staff, laundry, office, maintanance and medication aides just hide what they do from the head people that come down to observe from coporate and take care of their residents, sometimes at their own cost. The cna's regularly buy shampoo, deoderant, body spray and powder for their residents, did you know that? Most people don't. I am honest. I am.

Ok for one where does prayer come into this? I do work very hard and I earn every penny of what I make, but I love my job and chose to do this. Your comment is way off topic sweetheart. I wasn't bitching about my job I was simply responding to the others who bitch about my job. Now re read my post and try again!
