<quoted text>Let's also remember...the issues with paying the electric and other outstanding bill were inherited by Mayor Shepherd from the previous administration….he and the council have worked hard to begin to turn things around…but, as the old saying goes…”Rome was not built in a day”! Your take is very valid. Also, the reason there are not lighted displays on every pole is that MANY of our utility poles do not have an electrical connection available.
True, but still the paying customers of today are mostly
the same paying customers of then...we paid our bill or
we had meter pulled immediately and had a hefty reconnection
fee to get it back...a feller can't go without water very
long and the water company knows that...but apparently the
city didn't think too much in keeping up its own bills then
and we all came close to having our wells go dry later. No,
the mayor and council of now can't be blamed for that they
inherited and we the customers will have to pick up the slack,
but one would have to wonder, what if any steps are being
taken to get at least a little bit of the lost money back.
I also think the holiday decorations look just fine, over
decorating is worse than not enough! The parade was really
nice, it was so good to see so many having fun and enjoying
themselves over the tough times of the past March 2nd storm
that devastated so many. And the little Dingus boy, we all
have gained from his presence, God bless that child and his

<quoted text>While some of us do know that "XMAS" can refer to an old Greek way of writing Christmas, I highly doubt most common folks know this, and, to that point in doing so for conveniece's sake, proffer a blatant disrespect for the name of Christ by their actions.
I'm just pointing out fact to any religous people that Xmas isn't offensive. The more you know the less you blow. Then again we could take it down the road of how Christams is a pagan holiday that was stolen by christians. Back in the day it was considered blasphemous by christians to even celebrate xmas.

As it may not seem offensive to you that the most important
part of the word is 'Xed' out, you are right about the Santa
Clause and Christmas Tree thing, The Rudolph Reindeer and a
Snowman called can thank the Mongomery Wards, the
Sears Roebucks, now the Walmarts and every other retailer who
need the holiday seasons to stay afloat, but we as Christians
need our Christmas to be CHRISTmas without the main ingredient
being crossed out! Thank you for your attempted enlightment,
however, you still seem to be standing a bit in the shadows

I agree that having too many decorations is worse than not enough but the point I was trying to make was instead of complaining about the lights, let's fix them.Of course I knew when I suggested donating and decorating as volunteers it would never happen. Sorry as it is it's human nature to complain yet never fix the problem. Nobody uses the shelters in December so why not have a live nativity scene with just a few lights to highlight the display instead of lots of lights running along the fence? The school kid's can make the paper chains to decorate the shelter and on and on. It doesn't take a lot of money to decorate but just a few people who care enough to do something. As for the tornado, I lost most of my house plus the home of my son who had died unexpectantly just a few months before and I am daily thankful that no lives were lost. I rode out this storm inside my house along with all of my immediate family when the tornado picked up my house and set it back down, off the foundation, so I know how blessed we are.But we have to move on and not let this storm control every decision we make. Decorating the park does not take away from the seriousness of the storm but it celebrates life and shows we haven't stopped living. We are celebrating the birth of our Savior and that makes me happy and when I'm happy I want everyone to be happy so decorate and decorate and celebrate for Jesus Christ was born and is still alive and coming back soon to take us home !! Decorate, celebrate, rejoice!!!!

When you talk of Live Nativity Scenes on
public property you are inviting trouble.
Remember, the athiests and agnostics have
civil rights but Christian believing people
do not, to prove it the athiests and agnostics
have a powerful lawyer's union called the
ACLU on their side and I don't think our little
community could afford the fines these lawyers
would end up costing it. Sure Daniel, Joseph
and Paul, not to mention John the Revelator did
their best work in a prison or in exile, do any
of us have the FAITH to follow in their footsteps
or are we too comfy in our lifestyles and to
bleed for the ONE who BLED for us would be just
too big a price to pay?
