The rockhouse mtn. is a range in poor valley, nd owned by several families. Some may be leased, but not all is leased. It ranges from the head of lick skillet rd. to the Flintrock rd. and the Little Tumbling cove. Leased Where? Who's property is leased on the mountain? Several families own the property nd don't know of them leasing it to anyone. The Walls family, the Cardwell family, Poston, Brown,Davenport, Taylors and all others who own from the Skillet down the mountain. Just who leased all this, as much of it is on the game reserve....fyiiii know better. Did somebody buy the Tumbling creek bridge, if so , let me sell it to you.

There is a four wheeler trail on the skillet side to the end of the mountain and down thru the Poston place on Flint Rock. This fyi sounds like the pot growers gang who tried to run people off from it, by threats and harrassment. One man was told by a young boy that his brother would shoot him, well hooedydo, the guy told him there was no patent on who would shoot who. Another man they tried to run off, had family members who owned land in there and gave them an understanding that where he ws from, they shot back. FYI when I see a lease from our property,I'll believe your information, for your information, and your sorry a--, a herd of people could travel it and don't think your information would amount to too much. The land owners showed you once before you didn't control their propertyGo raise your pot on somebody elses land, ain't nobody afraid of your stupid a--

It isn't redrock but the next mtn down. Always carry a gun down thru there, you may want to use Fyi for target practice. I hope nobody believes that.

The Homer Davenport family down the valley, and The taylors have to be the county line Taylors. There is more to rock house than their property, just who are the wassums? The line to the game reserve is on the top, and thus won't interfer with the leased properties, as long as you don't gt on their property, ain't nothin the leasees can do about it.

the group that leases is the b.i.c hunting club (brothers in christ) the lease is around 800 acres. it starts at lick skillet they have a big green gate that stays locked. it goes to the top of the mountain and ends about 1/2 mile from the back cliff where u can look off into tumbling the line goes back down the mountain at a slight angle. the only other boundary to the lease is tge national forrest line. the group has leased it for about 12 years. I was in the group for about the first 3 years. last year curtis taylor passed away and his part which included some extra land he bought a few years back not sure which family was tied up and gettin sorted out between his children, so I think last year they didnt lease, I talked to a current member recently and was informed that a new contract is being discussed since taylors children now own his part

Only thing I can say is that a lease has to be recorded, and it doesn't mean a thing if heresay is the lease. Know some of the owners, will ask about it. Don't know where the lease you're talking about is. From some of the property, at least three who own who don't know about any lease, their property can be walked with permission. They didn't care who hunted on the property, who walked on it, or whatever until a bunch of pot growers and their gang started destroying the property, and stealing. What hunting is going on this time of the year on Sunday that the group would care for a hiking party, Isn't May the planting season???? I'd say the brotherhood would give their permission if they were asked. Nobody needs to go all the way to Davenports to see the cove from the end the people who own the property that ain't leased own.
Don't think you know much about the Rock house chain. Besides, what are they gonna do with a person if they catch them walking, if they're not hunting. They have a hunting lease.[HUNTING] They have no lease on the game reserve side, that which comes to the top of the mountain.

That would be a beautiful walk this time of year. Never seen them but they are pretty neat from the pictures. Where do you go in the park at? I know where the fire tower is, been years since I been back there. Use to be cabins up in the woods on the road to the tower. How far would a person have to walk? I have been to beartown mountain, to the hanging rock (there's a rattlesnake den under teh hangingrock) been to carrs (Kiahs) cove and over to counts cove. There is some pretty country back in that area, it's mostly stuart land and cattle company on the Russel side, beartown is maybe in the game reserve. The big rock on the very end of beartown is called pigeon rock. There's a spring on the top of beartown.

I use to hike up and down the mountain a lot when I was able. the first year the group leased they found about 200 camo buckets on the mountain. but they did have a recorded lease signed by the owners. and for the most part they aren't gonna run people off just walking and site seeing they are good family people, the first few years they had a lot of vandalism, people would cut the lock on top of the skillet and cut trees down across the road take all the posted signs down, rick wassum pulled a camper up that they used and the tires got cut and the windows where busted out, it was probably from the growers that lost their garden, I thought that everyone knew about the club and lease, it's been on going for over ten years until last year as posted by "info".

Would like to get a group together, and take the children back there to see the rock house. I've been on the mountain but never been to the actual rock house. I guess the trip to the channels was what got it all started about the place being off limits to hikers. Figured "info" was just some pot growers trying to keep people out of there. Everybody knew about the pot growers, even the police, but for years nothing was ever done about the things they were doing to people who lived near the rockhouse mtn. Vandalism was just one of the things they did, as one woman put it to the police, "go search my place, I'm not gonna have what I've worked for tore up or stole. What they can't steal they tear up. It's not children doing it" Heard they would raise pot on your place and the police would let them harrass the owners. Most people down there in the valley posted their property and didn't allow anyone going in because of the vandalism. When Sheriff Mitchell got in office, he put a hurtin on the gang, they stole the gate off the trash dumpster area down on tumbling, broke into Bowmans grocery, robbed houses, people complained, but nothing was done until Mitchell, he had to get the State to come in and clean up the mess there n the valley, it was basically four families into it. All related.all friends.

the rock house is wild to see. it's completely hid back in a laurel thicket. something you would never just stumble on. it's on top at the back of the mountain. my best friends dad is a member of the leasing club and he took us two years ago in early bow season. I hit a doe kinda bad and we where tracking it when we lost the blood trail we where close to the back. my friends dad said "we are a little ways off our lease but if yall want to see something cool I'll show you". it has a very big opening that had been covered with tin just leaving about a door sized opening. it was big and open on the inside with old pans and such still in it. if you could ever get anyone to take you that knows where it is you should go you would really enjoy it, and kids would love it

It would be as good as a haunted house project if the people with the lease would agree for a group to go up there, take the kids who would like to go. It's a good Saturday or Sunday project. We should set a time and place to meet and go there. It would be nice for the little leagues and all ages.

Somewhere there is a little rock house.
People use to make whiskey in there. I've heard of it but never seen it. Heard it was just a place under a cliff, somebody years ago had a bed in it.
