I wanted to share an article in today's newspaper. I will grant you the article's focus is on Sullivan County Tn, but believe me when I tell you things are even worse here in Smyth County.

I was at the shelter on Monday 11/2/09 when 61 (no that is not a typo) SIXTY-ONE animals came into the shelter. Many animals were euthanized almost immediately, never even being seen by the public to get a chance at being adopted..........there simply was no room.

This is just one more reason why we, Saving Furry Friends, Promised Land Animal Rescue and Appalachian Animal Rescue are needed ......and quite frankly a few more rescues in the area wouldn't hurt.
