Whats the deal with the coaching at NW??? You have all the talent in the world for a D1 high school team and seem to blow it week after week! What happen to POWER I hard running football? Isn't that what got Frye the job anyway when he coached the same kids in 7th and 8th grade? When you have 2 linemen like the Bise's and 6'1 240lb fullback\tailback like blake, with the speed of Henderson and Prater!!! well the rest should be commonsense. You can have the greatest Offense in the world but if you don't have a defense to stop'em your not gonna win! If you practice 50% then your reactions on Friday night will be 50%! We don't live in River Head. Get some splits, run it up the gut, wear teams out and WIN BALL GAMES! Also a play calling system would be nice, the QB has to run an extra 25 yards every play to the sideline to get the next play, which leaves about 5 seconds on the clock to get the play off. Northwood could win some games if the strategy was simplified... blocking, tackling, hard running power I football. Not 5 different offense sets running pro style football. Just simplify!!! Power I! Games are won in high school by not making mistakes. when you line up in shot gun 75% of the time and pitching the ball every play your shooting yourself in the foot!!Here is how I would line the backfield: Call-QB Olinger-FB
Prater-TB switching all three around in the same formation with subs from Henderson and Price (keeping fresh legs) and blake more reason to run for a playing spot! you could also Use prater at QB time to time passing to Call (the boy has excellent hands), but defense is not for him! PRACTICE FULL SPEED!!! not just walking through drill after drill listening you learn reactions by doing them not being told how to do them!!!

TELL THE COACHES THIS IS ON HERE TO READ AND LEARN!!!!
Its constructive criticism!!

There's also a conditioning problem. Along with no defense. Seems in the 2nd half the kids run out of gas. That's the coaches fault.

I agree 100 % with the power I. Thats all we run in the early 80s and won alot of games with it. They have a great blocking line, bullish fullback, good tailback and wing back and a tall QB who can see the defence well. The Power I suits them well and also the 5-2 defence instead of the 5-4. But what I really dont understand,(by the way, I didnt get to this game,) why in the world would you call a pass play with the lead and only 2 mins and some seconds left in the game with almost 3oo yrds rushing alreadyand up the percentage of getting beat by an interception when you had the chance, even if you had to punt it, to run the clock down and not give them a chance at the endzone. I read that in the paper this morning and couldnt believe it. Why the pass play?? Oh, and by the way, congrats to the worriors for beating GW and breaking the streak. That shows you anybody can be beat!! Just dont understand the thinking behind the coaches strat.

It's stupid people like you all that give SWVA a bad name! Prater was sick during halftime throwing up and Henderson was injured, yet they both still played the best they could. You people are what cause good coaches who care about the kids to quit!

You're exactly right citizen! Coach Frye really cares about these boys and he goes above and beyond what most coaches do to for these boys. He takes them to church on Sundays and he makes sure every player has good shoes. He knew we couldn't afford to buy my son shoes, so he got him a pair. When you're starters have to play both ways for the entire game, it runs them down. You people are sitting on your lazy @*^%%^es and you're not at practice to realize what goes on!

Its not about kids being sick. Its about blowing a 23 point lead due to bad choices and unneeded changes. They have yet to beat a team on the same level or better due to poor conditioning and slow defense reactions. Like i said you play like you practice! Your offense set has nothing to do about being sick! Northwood needs consist offensive formation and a game plan witha little entheuisim. The players nor the fans have confidence in a coach that makes bad decisions over and over.

Thats nothing new, always an excuse for Prater. either he is sick or his sugar is 4 or 500 high. always something to draw attention. lmao. Still no excuse. I myself and many other players finished the game sick or injured but we never quit or gave up, Coach Rhea didnt teach us to quit. I dislocated my shoulder and at halftime cut a piece of 4 inch foam and put under my shoulder pad and played the rest of the game against the black dude from PH, Mark Web, he was like hitting a brick wall, but we stopped him and never gave up. You got to go full force 4 quarters, not 2 or 3, but the whole game. Maybe West Virginia has some more teams we can schedule for next year cause it sure looks like we cant beat anyone from this state!!

You can be a real good person like Frye and still make poor repeative coaching decisions. Frye knows how to win with the same kids running a straight forward offense with less chance for mistake. Never said anyone was bad. He just needs to remember what got him in that situation. POWER I!!!!

So easy to sit back on your a#* and criticize from the stands. You've not been at practice every day with these boys and seen what they are capable of. Get a life! Sounds like you are trying to relive your high school days. Move on buddy!

Its a game if you win! If you lose its a waste of time! Especially when they have the talent they have. They are out of shape. With slow reactions. I have seen practices and noticed no conditioning! My point is that the power i has worked and will work. Thats why Billy Wyatt was forced out. Frye was running power i with splits winning games. Now he is running River head offense losing with a team that has the talent to win. At george wythe he drove the ball consistant to the 20, then went silly passing or pitching back for losses. When you get a drive going you keep it going! High school football is won and lost with mistakes, and mistakes are more likely going to happen with shotgun and pitches every play. North and south up and down the field. Pound.....Pound....Pound in power i. It works ask dean rhea.

.....First of all you can't blaim the kids they did not give up and had you been there you would have saw that.Prater gives 110% and never gives up or complains I know that for a fact because he dates my daughter. As for Mark his life is consumed by football he is watching films and breathing football 24/7 . Its guys like you that is undefeated in the stands because you would do this or that I've coached the game and believe me hind sight is 2020 so stop getting on line and say what you would do because you ain't doing it......

If the kids are giving 110%(which I believe) and Frye is doing oh so well. WHY ARE THEY LOSING???
He had it together a couple years a go running smash mouth football in POWER I winning games. sounds to me like he is now over thinking it. I think he has good intentions but has got consumed the bigger things and forgetting the simple things like blocking, tackling, getting the play in before time expires. you are gonna lose games but you cant tell me that every team they play is that much better. Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes.... week after week. Power I works!! ask Bo, Eddie! and Little league doesn't count.... and you haven't done it....

well first off apparently the offense is not the problem because they are scoring so why talk about the power i looks like to me the defense is the problem just like friday night all the defense had to do was one key stop.why do you think that little league dont count thats where it all starts and by all means probably the most important part to learning any sport so by you saying that it dont count is crazy!!!!!! What year(s)did you play or coach because you seem to know so much about it or are you as Eddie stated a undefeated coach from the stands also?

wow panther i agree with smash mouth football style but the offense is scoring so why keep yelling change the offense thats not the problem and also maybe you can tell me exactly what i have coached since you know so much about me!!!!!!!I watched Bo but not everybody is Bo so once again you cant compare this to that!!!!!!!!When does your team play id like to come and watch to see how good you do at coaching because your pretty good at telling everybody else what they need to do..

WHY ARE THEY LOSING?
If I could I would coach for FREE! by the way I am not yelling. The offense does good at times but you cant run one good play then try something off the wall different and lose twice as many yards as you gained. Consistency builds confidence that's why you change. you run 44 blast between bises, with them firing off the line making a hole. You can not tell me this wont work Coach Briggs. Blake can fall for 3 yards every time like that and 3x4=12 which means first down and ball control! when you gain consistency with the Offence, the defense will not be on the field as much and have confidence in themselves to make the big plays!! after you establish a good run up the middle, you then take it outside after you get everyone sucked up the middle. that's how football works, you work off the play before Coach Briggs! Yes they will need more conditioning. Now am I right or not wrong! As for defense spend more time practicing it now because you know your offence will work!! Frye has good intentions! but its not working! Everything I say comes from EXERIENCE!

In the games I've saw and the videos I've seen the defensive backs take poor angles when trying to make tackles. The defensive line and linebackers miss too many tackles also. I've saw too many long passes and runs given up. You are taught to be deeper than the deepest and wider than the widest.

I am not trying to badmouth the players or coaches... they have talent! its just we are not seeing their full potential as players or as coaches! Frye KNOWS HOW TO WIN!!! but he needs to get back to were he was a couple years ago winning games in a style that fits the players he has. I think he has an unstoppable power I and need to practice more defense to get the speed up to par. you can mess up and score a touchdown and win a game if your defense steps up and stops the opponent. When a player messes up let him know he did. Watch the same kid get burnt at Holston 4 time in 2nd half. He needs to know it was him and try something different. You have to adapt. Frye seems to be a soft spoken friend as coach. I think if he was more stern and showed consequences for a poor performance then he would see better results. My opinion is I would rather have 11 on the field that "wants it" than 11 that is good with "no want". Talent wise they have it, discipline wise they are lacking! Just like to see Frye win games the way he use to and quit pussy footing around running something that requires a fast, fast pace team that is totally different for kids around here. these are country tough, country rough kids. you need a rough and tough offense! Not a timing, developing offense. Not trying to put no one down, just want to see full potential! I want to get coaches ruffled enough to "get it done!" you can agree or disagree, but I think its obvious!
