I was one of the volunteers - taking all the
midnight calls !

While fatman and the gang
"worked" = sat around the Squad hall watching TV
and eating in / out on the Squad's expense.
"Hauling the medicare patients they were using to
defraud the system out of those claims. "
These were the "EASY CALLS" !
Yea - they were getting paid full salaries
for doing NOTHING ! Oh except defrauding the
system and having "Board Meetings" trips to
"conferences" and "training".

All expenses paid by the SRS !

Quit - when I saw what was going on !
Did not want to be involed in the corruption.

I saw that there had been letters of support for the Rescue Squad placed at the stores in Saltville. I did sign one cause I am in support of the Rescue Squad but not in support of the four that voted to shut in down. I am in favor of those four leaving however that has to happen. Also I am aware that there are other Squad members a bunch of community members who plan on fighting for the squad to stay open. We as citizens of the community need to get behind these folks that are working to keep it open and support them. One way to do this is to tell everyone you know to go by and sign those letters at the stores.

The mayor has no control over the town, much less the PRIVATE Saltville rescue squad.
trying to understand all

Ok, I live in Saltville and have sat back and watched, read and listened to all the negative things about this town. I also have a friend who does volunteer with the rescue squad and runs many calls but refuses to talk about squad business, so with that I seem to get much information from this site good or bad! My point here is I agree that squad probably hasn't been in the most positive light in past couple years and if the 4-5 have decided to close the squad, I cannot understand why they would not give others an opportunity to try and make it a positive situation. The other side is what about the local fire dept? Are they able & willing and has anyone asked if they are going to assume the EMS role now like Chilhowie did some time ago? Myself I do not want a paid ambulance service in my town!! Also I have never heard the town council actually support the rescue squad verbally or financially, isn't that odd alone. Other towns from what I understand give an ambulance service money and help, but the Saltville Rescue seems from what I have heard now for a few years they rarely get any help from anyone. Now how sad is that, honestly?

Just a person who keeps his eyes open and ear to the ground. As far as the rescue squad it might be best to close to get rid of any trace of Popeye. Remember in Greek mythology out of the ashes came the Phoenix.

Both POPEYE and WAYNE need to go along with Shirley Cassell. Walter needs to read his bible more. They all should do the right thing and give it up to the ones who want to try to keep it open.

Does anyone have any new information in regard to our squad. I know by listening to the scanner that chilhowie has been running alot of Saltville calls.

They are no longer shutting down. Wayne is about to have more free time, and when he leaves, or forced out, maybe they will stop giving every second call chilhowie then.

Not until the Feds file the charges and take him away in cuffs !

Just like his Daddy - he was benefitting
and now he is skimming calls from the SRS to TRINITY !

It's comming !
Recind SRS license

Burlington, VT

#37 Jul 10, 2013
Board of Supervisors could recind SRS business
license. They could not operate. They go bankrupt.
( Since they are private now and do not relay on
donations and grants !)

Then we start from scratch and build a
Volunteer Rescue Squad Service !

Without the Louthians !

The County has the right to cancel the authorization for SRS to operate.By code, they cannot function without authorization from the Board of Supervisors
Recind SRS License

Recind SRS and TRINITY business licenses !

SRS and it's present Board of Directors have not
acted in good faith and continue to collude

Smyth County Board of Supers may recall
Mr. Louthian specifically misled them
said he ( TRINITY ) would not compete with existing
ambulance services !

Minutes: Feb 2, 2011
Eddie Louthian informed the Board that he had been with the Saltville Rescue Squad for 20+ years and would like to establish his own non-emergency ambulance service in the Atkins/Groseclose area. He reported that he had received his certificate of organization from the Commonwealth of Virginia for Trinity Ambulance Service LLC. Mr. Louthian explained he needed a resolution of support from the Board to be able to move forward in applying for his license to operate Trinity Ambulance Service LLC. Mr. Louthian stated he would start with about 3 ambulances; 2 running and 1 for backup and 6 to 8 employees. He also informed the Board that he would assist as a backup for the rescue squads in the County. Supervisor Blevins stated not to delay someone who would like to bring a service and employment to the County. After a few questions being answered, Supervisor Blevins motioned to adopt a resolution of support. Supervisor Call seconded the motion, and the motion passed with the following vote:

It would not be a recision of a business license, the Board of Supervisors does not grant that. It would be a resolution to refuse to allow them to operate in Smyth County, basically a reversal of the permission to operate.
