Well Well Well

Our beloved men of troy are now off to an 0-2 start after a less than stellar showing at the Leechburg tip-off tournament. Saltsburg put on a horrible display when they played Leechburg in the second game of the tournament semifinals scoring a pathetic 16 points. Then they scored 31 more points in the consolation against Apollo-Ridge but that was not enough as they lost by 25.

Well Saltsburg plays their home opener tomorrow vs Elderton weather permitting

Well i know one thing

I know it is early but from what i see there is not one problem with the team, there are many problems with the team

The main reason is lack of players joining the team. Back when saltsburg was good there were about 25-30 players now this year there are 11 on the team. And they are young and inexperienced. I was talking with my folks when i rode back home from Leechburg friday after the schallaking. My stepdad said the big problem is that adolescents do not want to play sports, they are mor interested in their computers, cell phones and video games. My stepdad once told me about his mom waking him up at around 4:30 am to go to the hoop and he would be there until it got dark, and oh yeah he did it in the cold and snow too. I see a few good players in Evan Adams, Steve Richards and little else. you are right about one thing SNS it is going to be a long season but it is too early to think it is going to the worst season of all time. We will have to see how the season plays out.

We just dont have any good players like we used to. those teams in 2000, 2003 and 2008 are the 2 best teams in SBG history. Steve Shannon, Donnie Stitt, Brian Pizer Justin Reed, Nepsha, Ulisse. Those were dominiant players. they dont have size. they had Curran Modrey and Big Al. They dont have size or players anymore.

Besides the problem of lack of players, a huge problem is coaching. Even a few years ago when there was amazing potential on the team, they weren't able to get very far. But coaching's always been a big problem in Saltsburg; it's not a secret. Saltsburg needs to get some new coaches in there, not just the ones that are buddies with Richards.

Yeah it's sick, crude, and twisted, but so is the problem that spawned such a comment. Maybe a little insensitivity toward that topic is what our area needs. In case you haven't noticed, happy suburbia turned into Trainspotting over the past few years. I personally don't think this region can counsel and rehabilitate it's way out of having a huge heroin epidemic. Zero tolerance and absolute lack of empathy seems like a much swifter remedy, although it may seem oppressive to those involved. They put themselves in that situation though.

I think it's time for people to finally reap what they sow in this country, and I'm not just referring to those who choose to use hard drugs that can kill them. For way too long, our culture has exhibited a total lack of personal accountability in the name of fairness and tolerance for everyone. This is an across-the-board problem, and virtually nobody is innocent of enjoying the spoils of liberal political correctness. A degenerate junkie now has a "disease", welfare is now called "assistance", etc. We've become a society that functions under the assumptions that the images that we project are a true projection of who we really are.

You should be strapped into a gurney and be given a lethal injection for saying sick stuff like that.

If the team is that bad, how is Saltsburg going to fill that trophy case they want to build? When discussing the new building..the school board said, "build it and they will come." Maybe that is what they meant...they are waiting for some athletic kids to come. That is Saltsburgs main goal, can they dribble... more important than teaching them to read or write.
