Libby's mail is closing Febuary 15th. Lots of people on my end of town, S. Marina Dr., don't receive mail delivery at home. I filed a complaint with consumer affairs and I encourage all of you to do the same. If we behave as a community, will get get treated with the same benefits as other communities. It is just completely outrageous that in 2009 we have no postal delivery to our homes. The head of the Thermal Postal Office is no being investigated for lies that were told and mis appropriating funds to prevent us from having mail delivery. If we all speak up, together we can change these wrongs. After all, in the old days they used Pony Express, but you got your mail!!

GOVERNMENT CODE
61000. This division shall be known and may be cited as the Community Services District Law.

61100. Within its boundaries, a district may do any of the following:
(aa) Provide mail delivery service under contract to the United States Postal Service.

The SCSD could take on this additional responsibility if they choose to. The problem however would be trying to get the U.S.Postal service to pay the District enough to cover the Districts' cost of providing that mail delivery service.

One of the things the District would have to do to gain this additional power is to prove that it had the funds to provide the service. Other than that requirement no other government agency needs to give the SCSD permission to get this additional power. LAFCO only verifies that the District has complied with the paperwork requirements of the Community Services District Law.

p.s. I bet none of the other Directors even knew they could do this....that's what happens when you spend so much time bad-mouthing the messenger inside of looking at the message.
