Buy a house, cheaper than renting. You can find one listed for 45-55k, bid $10k over asking price and you will have a chance to snag one.Sea side of freeway have less problems with foundation shifting .Put $15k down ,your payments on a 30 yr will be less than a car payment. I moved in last year ,been through a lot to get a house. It's a whole game. They are listed low , but get bid up quickly . Have it inspected to check foundation and mold problems.Good luck, welcome to the heeeat.Oh wait ,you're from AZ, just like home then ! You can definitly find a cheap rental too, but you will be paying more than a mortgage.
