Hello,

I am looking for information on a place called Holiday Park. It's at the end of Camp Fire Rd, near Salt Rock. My grandparents had a place back there, and my cousins and I are looking for information on it. My uncle sold it a few years back w/o telling us.

Thanks!

Don't know if you live close by to Salt Rock or not, but if you do go there and visit Holiday Park, go through the park to the end of the "Y". There is a lady that lives there and her name is Pat and she could probably tell you anything you need to know.

Thanks, unfortunately I live in Florida. But I will pass this information on to my cousin, who is going down about once a month to visit our grandmother. And I will be in the area in Sept (Labor Day weekend) for a family reunion and for my grandmother's 100th birthday party. Again, thanks much!

I live near Holiday Park,Merritt's Creek Road, and Holiday Park is a wonderful place. Thanks to that women Pat they got a new road, school bus, new bridge. It's a beautiful place by the river...good thing you don't have the river lots any more, tends to flood towards the end of the park quite often.
As far as the lots by the bath house, their was 5 of them I think. Nice lady had a summer place there== Mrs. Evans? Other lots r owned by people in Milton I think.
Thank GOD it's nothing like it used to be. Now it is a wonderful community, doctors, lawyers, even their own Indian chief! Vets and Veterinarian's, guys that work @ Cab huntington,St. Marys...all good jobs and the older kids go to college. YES Thank God, it's NOTING like it used to be!
Drunkone needs to stay OUT period! It's people like him that once that lady came in and got the road for them, they cleaned that place out.
The ONLY over grown 'so called' trash places (which are 3) like in ANY NEIGHBORHOOD, is because the owners abandoned the lots and never come back to take care of them, that come next year when the law goes though, the county will come and clean them and bill the owners that vacated the lots.
Actually I shouldn't write a thing saying anything nice--- that's so we can keep people like 'drunk head' nimrod more like it-- and people like him AWAY from here! FYI the coppers know exactly how to get down here, if you have any intentions of causing problems-- stay the hell out! We don't want you and we won't mind a bit having you arrested. YES Holiday Park is NOTHING like it used to be---- good solid citizens and workers live here now! And "gulp" tax payers and voters!
Melissa, I have friends there and been going there for the last 15 years and I am amazed every time I go just how much work has been done!
That lady even had REAP come out and clean up the trash from the flooded water that's been there for over 40 years! So high 5's to you for sticking to your guns and fighting off these 2 morons!
Who Knows KNOWS NOTHING--probably one of jeff james renters the cops tossed out!
There's only 2 rental places there..both owned by james,,,if they *residents of the community* had their way they'd moved his sorry trashy ass out of there years ago!
All lots are sold!!!!! Stay out! We don't want people like drunk one and who knows nothing!!!!!
Only lots for sale left have reality signs on them..but you need a permit from the flood plains office--so there you 2-- see maybe you don't know as much as you think you know!
I only have friends there, but I've seen the hard work that's been done.
Question to you2...if you thought it looked so bad? When's the last time either of you offered to help anyone??
NEVER! exactly what i figured. Probably not registered to vote. Probably living on welfare, but you judge that community? I think u2 need to do your own inventory first!!! before you say anything about another one's, HOME and Families!

Their are some people who still have seasonal lots.
Where they bring in their campers until the end of summer then move them home like usual. Any new coming it, would have to get a permit from Connie Grey @the Court House. Or for any new dwellings.
The others are grandfathered in. There was a flood here in 2004 and it changed the contour of the river..so they re-did the 100 yr. flood plain..so now all property has to have a Flood Permit and Build by code..which includes all water and sewage hook-ups. They renewed their Non-Profit status and are now considered a coperation, and must bide buy all County & State Codes.
Short translation, It's not as cheap as it used to be to live out there. It's a 'neighborhood' like any neighborhoods in the country. Very peaceful.
I have no idea who these to jokers are--drunkone (would explain lots) and who knows(not sure it that's with a ? mark, like you're not sure...or if it was supposed to have a period.
But I have a feeling only period you've ever seen came out of .....
won't bow to their level.
They have High Speed internet---cell towers-- just like in any community.
I would agree there are a few places that need worked on, but of those places, one has been in the hospital and one recently died-- a 14 yr resident--- and well their own personal reasons for not being able to look at 'mom's place'
Best thing to do for those interested is to contact the Cabell County Courthouse and ask someone in the record dept.
If you want, you can go to Google Earth and type in Holiday Road Salt Rock, WV 25559 and it should bring up the neighborhood. All the roads have 'actual names' now and we are working on new addresses.
Lot of hard work. Blood, sweat and literal tears have been put into this place.
Please ignore 2 idiots that have lonely lives and nothing better to do,than to put others down, HOPING it will make them feel better about themselves.
Problem is...this 'cure' only last about 2 seconds, then they go back to the same low life idiots they ever were before they posted their lame brain comments.
Property is mostly gone! Now you MUST have, by law, at least 2 lots, unless your grandfathered in for a camper on one lot.
It's mostly a regular community. People work.Kids go to school. By night fall it is quiet.
On the weekends it's great.
No need to 'go out'---
you can walk safely around the neighborhood, and if someone is in their yard, with a small camp fire, stop, visit for a few and go on down to where you might see the next group.
It's grand! My sister lives in a golf club community-- and is it more expensive homes?Yes, but they only know the neighbor right next to them. There is no 'community' like Holiday Park has...and yes to live there you must have a sense of humor and be likable, because these same people that you might have pissed off in the summer, might be the ones you need in the winter!
Sounds to me like those 2 are the people that USED to live in the blue house...and yes! When they were here IT was trashy! But we took care of them REAL QUICK! and btw------- we do not miss you!
There is a god!!!

That nice little lady, Mrs. Evans is my grandmother! She will be 101 years young on her birthday in September. Do you know who owns those lots now? Thanks for the information!!

I'd love to see Mrs. Evan's! As far as I know the man that bought the property bought it from your grandmother- that's been at least 10 yrs ago and he sold them to his cousin...
The red building she had is still there. He brought in a nice double wide and I want to say he's been here 9 yrs or so?

Hard to believe Mrs. Evans is 101. I remember when we had our association meetings at her place and she always made cookies & cake for the folks.
Please tell her I said HI. Is she still around here?

If you come in...come and ask about anyone where I live and I'd love to talk with you and catch up on your grandmother with you.

Don't want to put a lot of personal info on here-- guys name that owns the lots, my house number, all that--
first time I've been on here-- a friend told me about it-- and well as I've read, like life, there's always 1 or 2 people that have to ruin everything.

Like the person posted, no it's nothing like it used to be, I and others have worked very hard to get major improvements in here, road/bridge/school bus...even got that pain in the butt sewer plant sold (which I'm sure Mrs. Evan's will be thrilled to hear about)
matter of fact back 16 years ago, when I had the state come out and tell folks what they were going to do regarding the road, it was at her place that we all met.

Give her a big hug from me.
She was always good and kind to me.
