Have come across ppl that state God told me this, God told me that.. Does it have to be God, it can be other higher Souls, or descarnates, at times like to play rolls of other descarnates (spirits, ethers, souls) that are pasted on..or of the higher Spirits.. There are more then not that think God has nothing better to do then monitor earth.. The Maker is a very busy Enity...Good quote PlacitasRoy!

HBO’s “Big Love” rears its ugly, un-American, head with their deliberate, disrespectful, and distorted TV show’s agenda to undermine, mock, disregard, and insult members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) and their most sacred religious practices. Tom Hanks,“Big Love” Executive Producer, has come up with his own twisted version of “jumping the shark” by his not-so-subtle vendetta-driven affront on the Mormon faith (see article http://www.lonsberry.com/writings.cfm... ), a shallow and hate-filled approach to gain attention for the TV show by insolence.

Even as the bigoted views of Tom Hanks’ team try their “Big Lie” by blurring the distinction between their non-Mormon polygamist characters and pseudo-Mormon stereotypes in their storylines, real Americans understand the standard of accountability associated with the rights of freedom of religion and the real responsibility to exhibit respect and regard for other citizens beliefs and practices.

Certainly Mormons are offended when their most sacred practices are misrepresented or presented without context or understanding. Clearly, members of the church will continue to speak out (by way of legal, social and economical means) and request actions of all Americans against such blatant bigotry in the name of mock-entertainment.

Perhaps, one day, the intolerant practices of Tom Hanks, and his team of exploiters will see the error of their un-American ways and take the advice that George Washington gave to Benedict Arnold,“Avoid all disrespect to or contempt of the religion of the country and its ceremonies.”(George Washington’s letter to Benedict Arnold, Sep. 14, 1775)

memebrs of the church fund all these buildings..have absolutley nothing to do with taxpayers. Heck!! the church can teach the federal government a little something about balancing the budget. At least the church is not in debt like the gov't.
The church isn't in debt because they don't pay taxes(like all other church's and religions). Eliminate my taxes, start donating me money and I would be in a much different position than I'm in right now. As for the Mormon's being upset..........who cares, they are sheep in a cult, as are the followers of any other religious corporation!!

I guess you don't believe in the Bible then. Bible Scholars and the Ancient Church Fathers say you are wrong.

World Renowned Bible Scholar...Margaret Barker:

Christ taught his disciples the mysteries during the 40 day ministry after his resurrection.
The Ancient Church Fathers all write about it. They were the Temple Ordinances. The Temple Ordinances are also found in the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hammadi.

BTW...Margaret Barker is Methodist.

http://www.margaretbarker.com/index.html

Margaret Barker read theology at the University of Cambridge, England, and went on to pursue her research independently.

She was elected President of the Society for Old Testament Study in 1998*, and is currently the Editor of the Society’s Monograph Series, published by Ashgate.

She has so far written 13 books, which form a sequence, later volumes building on her earlier conclusions.

Since 1997, she has been part of the symposium Religion, Science and the Environment, convened by His All Holiness Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch. This work has led her to develop the practical implications of temple theology as the basis for a Christian environment theology.

In July 2008 Margaret Barker was awarded a DD by the Archbishop of Canterbury ‘in recognition of her work on the Jerusalem Temple and the origins of Christian Liturgy, which has made a significantly new contribution to our understanding of the New Testament and opened up important fields for research.’

Margaret Barker is a mother and grandmother, a Methodist Preacher, and has been involved, since it opened in 1977, with the work of a Women’s Refuge.

I usually don not like quoting scripture, especially in forums like this, but we get our proxy-like ordinances from: 1 Corinthians 15:29.
Scripture was talking about "the dead" as those who were still alive but did not receive the sacrament of Baptism. They were "dead" to Christ.

It does not. Baptism for the Dead was a known practice in the Ancient Church. There are Christian Bible Scholars that will tell you so.

Really...Martin Luther okayed polygamy and their synod was to okay it. The patriarchs of the Bible were all righteous men and they were polygamist. The Ancient Christians practiced polygamy and Calvin and Justin Martyr wrote about it. The Anti-Baptist during Martin Luthers time also were polygamist and I believe the Baptist come from them. There are modern day Born Again Evangelical Christians who are practicing polygamy today and their number are far greater than the FLDS. They even have dating services on the web. Its a new movement about 12 years old and one of the guys was on the 700 club. Just Google Christian polygamy. Or Born Again Polygamy. The only ones who have a problem with polygamy are westerners but they have no problem with being immoral and committing adultery.

Hang on there punk....there are more Mormons who live outside the state of Utah today here in the United States.
There 13 million Mormon world wide and no one has been kicked out since the 1800's so get your facts straight.
Here in the US there are 6.5 million Mormons. We are the fourth largest Church in the U.S. and the second fastest growing Church with only three other US Churches showing increases this past year. The rest of the Churches reported declines in their numbers even the Southern Baptist.

I use the Bible...haven't you noticed that I rarely quote from the Book of Mormon on these forums. In fact Margaret Barker uses the Bible...could it be because she is a Bible Scholar? And a non Mormon at that.
And the Church Fathers all quote the Bible and are the defenders of the faith at that time.
