I currently live in Utah, and I've to say that they are the world's worst drivers. Perhaps that is due to the fact that this state has a lot of teenagers or young drivers and they do not really care about crashing cuz they know the insurance will pay FOR EVERYTHING

So I am not the only one who agrees that Utahns are not only selfish, rude, & completely stupid behind the wheel! I moved to Utah 3 years ago from Southern Cali and I had never really felt "threatened" on the road until I began driving here. They are ALWAYS in a hurry...extremely disregarding of others. Anytime I have pointed out that Utah has the worst drivers, I am quickly attacked with their defense being that "California has the worst drivers." Not a chance. I lived in Cali my whole life and sure there are some drivers that are rude there as well but I never felt disrespected and honestly, scared for my life. I hate drying in Utah because I already know that every time get on those roads I am going to be tailgated, cut-off, and I am a nervous wreck every time! When I am being tailgated, I sometimes wonder if I should slam on my brakes so that the car behind me can crash into me and pay me money. But unlike them, I am not a selfish Biotches. Not only are they rude behind the wheel..but I have noticed that Utah is anti-Pedestrians. The drivers in California stop for pedestrians (WHO HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY BY LAW). In Utah, not so much. I walk to school every day and I find myself ALWAYS yielding to cars instead of vice versa. At walmart...I used to open the doors for people that were coming in just behind me and I never received a "thank you." They seriously want EVERYTHING to be done for them. without even recognizing others' feelings. I hate Utah and will be moving next year. Felt that I could share this here, thanks.

Interesting thread... I moved here about 8 yrs ago from Florida you could not tell me that Utah drivers were worst than the ones in Fl. Well I am here to admit I was so Wrong! Heck for goodness sakes I grew up in Puerto Rico and I thought the people in the island were bad, well at least over there people will give you a thank you gesture for everything, they might cut you off but thank you for letting them cut you off LOL

Not here! Not teens but women with kids in the Big SUV driving like total maniacs, texting while driving with their kiddos in the car, they cut you off and then give you dirty looks like you are the one that is in the wrong. They are driving in one lane and suddenly realize that they need to get off on the next exit and come all the way from the far lane cutting everyone and everything they find on the way, it is crazy!
The missionaries came to visit one time and my DH told them when they were trying to convince us, "yeah I can see you guys are full of the spirit when coming out of church and they thought he was being serious and one of the missionaries said, yes we are, I am glad you noticed that, and DH told them "yeah I can see that you are so full of the spirit you don't think when driving, you guys cut me off when coming out of the parking lot (this is true go by a church at quitting time on a Sunday!), you guys are almost suicidal" they didn't think his remarks were funny at all. DH thought they were never coming back after that but that didn't happen, but that story needs a thread of its own. LOL
There are so many things I love about UT but so many I hate...

I moved to Utah from the Uk so I'm used to pretty courteous driving,(although road rage there can be pretty bad) I have to say I've been horrified at how rude the drivers here are! In the UK it is common courtesy to wait while you pull out of your parking space, here, they drive straight past you, causing you to slam on your brakes or hit them! I've had many hairy moments trying to get onto the freeway, THEY DON'T MOVE OVER, bizarre!
And my absolute biggest peeve, no blinkers when turning, parking or changing lanes, they simply drift over and slam on their brakes.......I'm not a mind reader, how am I supposed to know what your doing? IDIOTS!! Every day I'm left flabbergasted at the driving, I find myself open mouthed in disbelief, shaking my head in bewilderment! I'm LDS also and I just want you all to know that some of us do have manners!!

Wait until conference lets out. You'll see a sea of minivans with the entire clan in them with Dad all dressed up in his Sunday best racing back to Provo at 90 MPH cutting each other off, not using the turn signal with a bumper stick that says Families Are Forever.
They can speed like that cause if they all die in an accident, HEY! families are forever!!!!

I don't how half these folks get their lisence!!!! I have a big red SIGN thats say to STOP!!! and still get folks driving by me. I am a crossing guard and always scared of these folks here. I feel bad for people who try to cross the big streets. anyways I think they should give tickets for these folks who don't use the turn signals and go by blinking school bus, and someone standing in the cross walk to cross. In fornt of schools I see the same thing over and over again. STOP PEOPLE BEFORE MORE GET KILL FOR NOTHING!

Wow...I love ignorant people, don't you? Why did you move to Utah? Was it the low cost of living? The low unemployment rate? The low crime rate? Please state your reason. If it sucks so bad here, by all means, I hear Ohio is still accepting people like you into their borders.
You don't have to be from somewhere else to think that Utahns are some of the most ignorant, stupidest, rudest, drivers on the road. If they spent less time looking in the rear view mirror trying to make sure no one was trying to get by them, and spent more time worrying about themselves and their own driving, I would likely faint from the shock!

If they tried being curteous on the road, instead of making a competition of it, everyone involved would have a much happier day. It actually feels good to be curteous. TRY IT!

Why is it that Utahns can't stand to let anybody by, even when they want to go 5 miles below the speed limit when their in front? They will speed up to 25 miles over the speed limit and risk everyone's lives to keep anyone from getting in front of them.

I wish I could afford to move. Today, on base, this lady kept slowing down in front of me. I went to go around her and she sped up. She messed with me all the way to the gate and then got next to me, pointing and laughing, and shouted "have a nice day".

She looks like a normal person! She is probably someone's Mom! She wasn't a teenager by a long shot, and she doesn't know me from hundreds of other workers there. I didn't do anything but try to go around her.

That is the kind of people that live and work here. People probably think she is a nice person where she works. They just don't get to see the real her that comes out when she climbs behind the wheel. I did.

I didn't behave the greatest with my reaction either, but then I didn't ask this total stranger to screw with my day to give herself a case of the jollies.

I go through something stupid like this almost every day on the way to and from work.

Eve seems to be proud of the fact that she lives in a state of rude, ignorant, mean spirited drivers, who think that they have some kind of right to treat others badly.

It saddens me to see the deterioration of manners and courtesy that is made so extremely evident in Utah.

The reason Eve probably thinks it is okay to be that way is because her parents failed to teach her any differently.

Utah has great weather, cheap living and pretty polite people, until they get behind the wheel. I've lives I'm NCAL, SCAL, OR, WA and AZ. And they were all major cities. I though AZ drivers were the worst! No way! I've seen more close call accidents, blatant arrogance, running of red lights, people talking on their cell phones (I know it's legal), and just down right stupid actions, than in the 2 months of being here than in the 16 years of driving in all the other states. I really feel for the people who are safe drivers here. I have had 3 close calls and had a Toyota Sequoia jump off a 20' embankment and land square on my Jeep while here for only 2 months. I'm going back to NCAL where I don't feel like I'm going to die just driving to the store. For you guys who live here in Utah, good luck, you guys need it.

mostly ive seen this kind of idiotic inconsiderate driving behavior from areas with older rich people who drive fancy cars and think that they should be in the fast lane to drive whatever speed they want at their leisure. it makes sense to see this type of behavior in utah because 95% of the population are LDS. and if you have ever lived in an LDS community you know they are some of the most stuck-up mindless brainwashed drones to ever live on this planet. F U, you closed-minded LDS fools.

I agree with you on the drivers being almost as stupid as the traffic lights in Utah, I hate the drivers here LDS or not, but don't bash on the church for the stupidity of it's members-Thats a low blow dude. But again the drivers here SUCK.

The problem with Utah, Arizona, deep South is not really the bad drivers, but the bigotry that drives nnot only Utah, Arizona and the rest of the KKK states and to add salt to injury, they proclaim and use Christ, the Christian religion as the motor for that bigotry. And to prove the point let me just pinpoint the epitome of that "Christian" hypocrisy: They have the gall to call the moral owners of their land "illegals." The Mexicans that were here before Smith, before the pilgrims "illegals", if that isn't the epitome of hypocrisy, then hypocrisy doesn't exist. Now as for more adjectives, specially when bigotry is the dynamo moving this "Christian" nation, the rest of all evil, brutality adjectives are right behind it. And since Utah and the racist states are mostly republican, tea partier, to those adjectives we have to add cowardice, undercover homosexuality, and those few that are not homosexuals a la Vitter from Louisiana, are after whores like Bush, the retard pervert from Texas after oil. Just imagine, if oil hadn't been the driving force behind 9/11, we wouldn't had have 9/11.
Emile (love the name, btw)
the worst drivers in Utah, that I have encountered, were illegal immigrants who are learning to drive. I am a chicana, but they are the worst! This one woman, just yesterday, was tailgaitng me so close that I wanted to teach her a lesson. I swerved to the right to scare her, so she would'nt tail gait again. LOL, she was so pissed she honked and honked, scared shitless. I then drove behind her and tailgaited her up to a street, she was going to cross but couldn't cross the next street, she was in shock. I don't make it a habit to do these sorts of things, but I have been living in-this God-forsaken state for almost four years, and I have had enough. The people here have no common courtsey when they drive, and no manners when it comes to wating their turn, just very low class, self-righteous, and rude. I have driven in California, and although there is horrible traffic, I have never seen so much disrespect, and stupid risk taking while driving.

I'm a safe driver and I have to drive defensively EVERY time I leave the house. There is no hope. I tell my husband that I refuse to drive between 2pm-6pm, because those are the times that the idiots are out on the streets driving and messing it up for everyone else.

I'm so glad to see I'm not alone. I lived in CA before this, and you hear about CA drivers all the time. However, while I was there I NEVER experienced what I have here. I don't have a car, so I'm even worse off having the "fun" of being a pedestrian. Drivers honk at you to hurry so they can make their right turn .000003 seconds after the walk sign comes on, cut you off on a right turn as you're about to step into the street, and look you right in the eye as they zoom past, almost hitting your stroller. Yep. I have a little baby in a stroller, and they don't even have the courtesy to make an apologetic gesture.

This state is great in so many other respects. View, cost of living, employment, but almost every time I go walking this happens, and I can't help but think it isn't worth it to live here.
