But really, think about it, all "people of faith" are in essence arguing that " my invisible man in the sky can beat up your invisible man in the sky!" If they really have faith in what they believe, they would simply explain why they believe it, and that would suffice. Its only those who have that twinge of doubt that must degrade others to justify themselves. And any Mormon who argues with these people are being hypocritical in that one of the articles of faith tell you to let them worship who or what they may. I personally have no problem letting anyone believe whatever they want, hell, I'm not against prayer in schools, or the word God in the pledge or on the money. I think Darwin had a point and so did Gandhi. I believe the meaning of life is a cheeseburger, in that its flat and plain in the beginning, flat and plain in the end, the only real meat is in the middle and before you're satisfied, its all gone. I also believe there is a place for Santa Clause in every child's life because what a wonderment it is to believe in things fantastical.
If you Mormons had the true courage of YOUR convictions, this thread would have died after three posts, one, the original, two someone stating Mormons aren't Christian, and one Mormon stating that they are. But it just shows that no one really has faith, or truly believes OR practices what they preach.

Third, I KNOW there God exists... and I KNOW the Church is true... and Joseph Smith was a true prophet. Now, let me tell you one reason I know this. When I was 27 I got cancer. My faith was tested. I started studying and researching as much as I could about all religions and the history behind it. Its been 16.5 years now and guess what I'm still alive and I still have cancer that has never been in remission. Now trust me when I say I've been tested plenty and in many ways.

The truth is out there. One just has to seek it.

Well, good for you, But my sister had faith as you do, was a faithful member, paid tithing, sent her kid on a mission, and she just died of brain cancer Sat. morning. That is why I'm in your lovely little town. To lay to rest the most faithful member of my entire family. So, believe what you want if it comforts you, but for myself, if God existed, I would be dead, not my sister.

Oh, and just a little FYI, it was my experience in the Temple that led me to leave your religion. So, there is nothing about the teachings that I do not already know. I just opened my mind to the reality of what all religion actually it, but if it helps you, then good for you.

I lost my virginity at 17 to my bishops wife. I used to go to priesthood meetings to score drugs, cause the elders always had them. When I was 14 a priesthood leader drove me out into the forest and tried to suck my c*ck. My elders quorum president went to prison for rustling cattle. The town police chief (and a bishop) used to pull over teenage girls and molest them. He also would get into feuds with people,(me being one) and pull his cop car into your property and shoot your animals. When I was taking the temple lessons, the person giving them to me went through the temple with us, then admitted the next day to having an ongoing sexual relationship with a teen girl who was pregnant. I lived in the same small Mormon town my whole childhood with my divorced mother and 5 siblings, and no one EVER came by to visit unless they wanted something from us.(love that fellowship) I could go on and on, but the one that relates to you the most is one of my female friends from high school was married to a man whose faith was so strong that when she was bleeding profusely after giving birth, he said that if they prayed enough and had faith, God would save her.( hence no giving her medical care) But when she died, it was "God's will".

SO don't come back now and tell me that those are acts of the people and not the church,, the people ARE the church, but thanks for the flashback on the little Fast Sunday cult mantra.

We know Joe Smith existed, but did he talk to God? Well, I used to believe I talked to God and he listened, but I also know that is a classic symptom of manic-depression, which runs in my family. So now, I have doubt that I ever talked to anything but the wind, but I am also now at peace with that.

So, for me, I do not hate anyone for what they believe, only for what they do. Also, if I were to believe the bible, there are two unforgivable sins,,,, and I have committed both. So I am damned regardless.

Right now I date a woman who is a Wiccan priestess. She believes it as powerfully as I have seen Mormons believe in their faith. The house we live in is haunted by something supernatural, and once after an investigation, some dark negative force followed us home. In my days of faith, I would have called the priesthood to bless my house, but my GF burned sage, chanted an incantation and had another wiccan come cleanse the house, and the dark entity left. So, is what she believes wrong? Will she go to hell for worshiping the power of the physical forces? Christians would say "YES".

I have seen in my investigations what seemed to be interaction with a "trapped spirit" who would have been at a very isolated desert cemetery since 1903. If that is true, and our spirits can become trapped, then there is nothing to hope for and death will be endless misery. I hope that I am wrong, but I don't KNOW I am wrong. NO ONE DOES!

As for myself, I hope there is a heaven, because people I have loved deserve to be there. But for myself, I believe like Socrates once said, only two things are possible after death, it will be like a long unending sleep where you don't dream, or we will go to where everyone is who has gone before. Either way, no one really knows, we all just have faith as to what is there.

As far as the post you are referring to, your first sentence was, Non-Mormons and non-active Mormons are one in the same. Now you know I'm a novice but, shouldn't a sentence be able to stand on it's own? If you write a sentence and then feel the need to explain it, perhaps you didn't phrase it properly. And of course we all know you and I are not one in the same, so why say it?
