"A month-to-month analysis in 2014 by Rocky Mountain Power shows that excess power generation from solar customers easily tops 100,000 kilowatt hours for several 30-day periods."

"The fee would have impacted 2,500 households in Utah."

It's interesting the excess power generated from solar customers topped 100,000KWh for "several" 30 day periods. 2,500 households times $4.65 is around $11,625 a month. If retail electricity is $0.11 per KWh then Rocky Mountain Power gets about $11,000 a month in solar provided power back into the grid. It looks like Rocky Mountain Power is trying to do an end run around renegotiating a new Net Metering contract with the private solar PV systems. The Utilities want to pay wholesale or less for the solar PV from private systems. When the utility doesn't have to repair maintain or insure the system and actually has "avoided" costs that don't have to be paid to do business. These "avoided" costs are not being passed on to non solar PV ratepayers, so that makes the homeowner or business owner who install their own solar PV generation system the bad guys? The electric utilities have had an easy business model for decades. Now it is outdated and unsustainable. Sooner or later the electric utilities will price themselves out of existence.

There is quickly becoming an option for individual solar PV adopters. It has been predicted in the next 3 to 5 years energy storage could be purchased for $100 per KWh of storage or less. The solar PV user could NOT sell excess power back to the Utility and save the power in their own storage device. Then they would become just like a customer who uses very little power every month. What's the utility going to do then? Who will they blame for their failure to make a profit and continue in the lifestyle they have always enjoyed?

I have zero experience with homosexuality too. That doesn't mean I need to sleep with some dude to know it's no good.

You've displayed regularly a penchant for "sucking", how do you know you're not? Get an education P.P. so you're able to carry on an adult conversation about solar. Once again, it sucks to be you.

Solar sucks. That's why nobody is using it. That's reality, little fella. Sorry to burst your liberal fantasy bubble.

You don't know what a liberal is squid, much less what solar PV is. There are millions of people around the world using solar PV, concentrated solar for their power needs. Your "nobody" claim is a foolish lie based on your incompetence. It still sucks to be YOU P.P.

Statistically, nobody is using it. If it were this great miracle energy source, you wouldn't have to constantly be shoving it down people's throats.

Typical liberal. Just because you like something, you think everyone needs to be doing it. You libs are the same with things you don't like. If you dislike doing a particular activity, you demand it be illegal or otherwise try to prevent anyone from doing it.

That's another uninformed lie on your part P.P. When you finally figure out what IS going on you will have already drown in your own SH%+. You don't even know what's going on in your own neck of the woods, do ya squid? It sounds to me like YOU'RE the one trying to prevent "anyone" from installing their own solar PV system. Once again squid, look in the mirror when you say liberal. TCL&P have raised electric rates around 1.5% percent since July of this year. There is an outstanding RFP for a company to evaluate and a pilot program to install AMI, that's automated metering to you squid. By next summer big brother will be watching your power usage remotely. TCL&P sells 20% of the provided electricity to residences, the other 80% is sold to commercial interests. You're a lousy 20% of their business squid, not a real high priority for them as far as they are concerned. What are YOU going to DO about that? Nothing right? Solar sucks, hey why has my electric bill gone up? Nobody uses it, hey what's that meter looking thing with the antenna on my house? Pathetic Pete strikes again.

Well, tell all those thousands of homes here in the US alone, that no one uses it. http://cleantechnica.com/2014/08/18/explosive...

Using your own statistics, the fact that 99.9% of US homes refuse to be powered by this inefficient energy source should tell you something.

That's a bold and foolish lie P.P. Here's a statistic that has some weight. Right now there is an average of 16 Gigawatts of power generated every day with alternative energy, wind, solar PV, Concentrated Solar. The grid system in this country and pretty much all the World is a generate and use entity. There are a LOT more people using these sources of energy every day than 0.1%. Even you post your stupidity with one or more of these sources of energy. Tuck your B.S. back in your pants and shove off sailor.

Actually it's not. An industry that is taken advantage of by "thousands", in a country that is occupied by hundreds of millions, is a statistical road apple.

Actually it IS, 16 Gigawatts being used every day here in the U.S. all alternative energy. You can't stop where the electrons will go once they have been generated. ACTUALLY you're lying to yourself.

Big deal. That only squeaks out enough power to send the Delorean back through time less than 16 times. If Doctor Emmet Brown was here, he'd laugh in your face.

IF Doctor Emmet Brown was real....Christ you're a hypocritical Moron. That amount of power each day is enough to run every home in the U.S. Since there are plenty of manufacturing plants that use MWh of electricity, it falls well short on powering the whole country each day. Soon it will be 32 Gigawatts, then 64 Gigawatts and so on. You will then find you have been playing in the freeway and have been run over several times on the way to denial.

Yeah right. Maybe enough power to run one of those RC helicopters you buy at the gas station for about 15 minutes.

That's nice A-hole cherry pick what I said, take it out of context and insert your stupid BS to try and make it right. Here's a good experiment, let's hook YOU up to 16 Gigawatts and see if you get real crispy or just disintegrate altogether. It sucks to be you P.P.
