A little history: US cities, even small ones, before WW2 had trolley systems similar to the cable car systems in San Francisco. Most were electric and very clean to operate. What happened to them? People wanted cars and the trolleys began to decline but were helped into the scrap yards by GM and other auto companies so autos would be a necessity. Thank GM for purchasing most of these inter-urban transportation companies and scrapping them. Learning that is where I lost any feeling for GM at all - yes they suck! If you think about it, the automotive industry has done more harm to this country and the world than all the bombs dropped in WW2 - pollution, fuel shortages and massive fuel consumption, labor unions, and don't forget the beautiful highway system that is in shambles in the USA. Yea, buy a bigger car, buy a Hummer....
