And isn't Congress saying we need .10 more tax per gallon of gas for more highway repair...

Yes, so we are looking at up to .20 per gallon tax on top of the obsene taxes already. I suspect that if a study was done (and it never will be) to disclose corruption in the federal and state DOT monopoly there would be trials for the next 100 years (at tax payer expense of course)
I am sick of the tax and spend attitude...do you recall when gaming (casino's) were legalized and how it was sold to the voter as the means to paradise for state revenew? How bout you raise THEIR tax rate and leave us alone, they are making tons of cash while we struggle...get a grip Lansing!

As all of us drive less we'll be consuming fewer gallons and thus less taxes will go to the state for road repair. Did they not see this coming? Granholm is constantly pushing for alternative sources so what is she going to do them? I'd guess they'll tax the crap out of everything they can come up with. We'll see higher fee's than we ever thought possible on anything you can imagine and they'll find new things to create fees for. To makeup for $950 a year in lost revenue I'd say all of us taxpayers are either going to take it on the chin and pony up more dollars or we'll just have to learn to deal with bad roads. The state certainly isn't going to do anything to help us out, we'll just be taxed to death but hey, once we're broke we can at least enjoy looking at nice roads even though we can't afford a car to drive on them anymore!!

I remember my mother telling me about a stupid uncle bragging that he accepted bribes from asphalt contractors. (Not using the proper amount I assume.) He was an inspector for mdot. Guess the corruption starts near the bottom.

So this task force spends the week or weekend in Traverse City to present thier report. I'l bet they all were not staying at the motel six, probably more like the Grand Traverse Resort!! And I wonder, where the money came from to pay for that? Let see we need more money for the state for all of the various projects that are so short on cash. I kind of like that idea of taking back the 40% raise the legislators gave themselves, No more pension or healthcare after terms are over. I'm sure that would save us(taxpayers and the state) a whole bunch of money.

Lets have a show of hands. How many of you out there have an employer that lets you take a paid summer break, paid winter break, on top of your regular vacations? Those breaks are not just a week or two either. What about all the other various expensive boondogles they go on, once again the bill footed by you know who. I wish I could work for few terms and recieve my pay even after I retired. How many of you get to do that?

The money that could be raised to fix highways via an increase in the gas tax is presently going overseas because we can't go get our own oil. Instead we send hundreds of billions overseas each month to people that would rather kill us given the chance. I guess we're all willing to dodge a few potholes versus disturbing a few caribou.

Since there is such a large amount of oil under Alaska, I would suspect that there is probably quite a bit in Canada as well. So, since everyone hates the USA anyways, we should invade Canada and make it a US province and drill for oil there. What are the Canadians going to do, call France for help!!!!! Oh yeah, then they could keep their trash that is currently imported here and we could turn around and use a big part of canada as a giant landfill as well. Cheap oil + A place to ship all our trash, whats not to like!!!!!

Once again just bend over an grab your ankles. Michigan roads have been horrible for years an getting worse. MDOT has known this as well as Lansing. They have kept putting this issue on the back burner hoping it will go away. Now, Granholm along with the rest of the democratic morans. So, now we're left footing a huge bill due to their procrastination at a time when every spare penny left is going to rising fuel cost. Come election time hopefully everyone will remember these liberal morans an the mess they have left this state in.

I must admit that I have had far more suspension problems w my 2 cars now than ever b/4. You really can't take your eyes off the road for a millisecond. If you were to try to miss all the potholes the police would probably pull you over on suspicion of being drunk.
