I just start working for a Distributor for Kirby Vacuums less than 4 days ago... No dishonesty at all. We clean their carpet for FREE whether they decide to buy a Vaccuum or not. 3 days in and already made 2 Sales. My Bosses are Great, I meet Larry tomorrow, and soon enough after some time in I will be making $Millions just like Larry.!!

6 friends of mine including myself worked as Kirby salesmen. Some of us made ok money in the low hundreds and some would make double or more. I myself was not very enthused about knocking door to door with a roll of paper towel or whatever we were given to use along with our college scholarship pitch just to get ourselves in their home. lol just thinking about them days makes me laugh. The stories I would hear that the fellow salesmen would pitch to the possible buyers were hilarious. I was sitting in on a demonstration to learn and the salesman told them that the transmission was designed and manufactured by Porsche. lol I was like omg you have to be kidding me. Not all sales people are as dishonest as him, he was later fired. If you are a high energy enthusiastic person you can and will go far with Kirby. You can make soooo much money and the bonuses are great too. The vacations they give are awesome. If you sell they dont mess around, you will be rewarded. The Kirby vacuum is a great machine and last a long time but they are a little expensive.
The transmission is made by En-Tech and they do make the transmission for Porsche and Jaguar. FYI

I worked for shy enterprises for a little while, ill be honest there very misleading in the beginning about a guaranteed salary. But the opportunity is there, I watched people become very wealthy in Kirby. You just need a good work ethic , a good sales persona and are able to work 18 hour days. I myself made thousands of dollars working there but it just didn't work out in the end. Don't recommend working there if you have a family or wife, won't work out. Otherwise give it a shot and see if you man enough or woman enough. If you are, you'll be a millionaire in ten years. Good luck to you , Larry Shy, The Kirby Guy....

A couple of these bozos showed up at my house the other day; offering a free case of Clorox wipes if I would watch a demonstration on a "new product". Then in comes a guy carrying a couple of boxes and they were in my house before I realized they were peddling Kirby vacuums. I told them right then that I was familiar with Kirby vacuums, I knew how good they were, but that they are WAY over priced and I was not going to buy one. Two hours later, the price on the vacuum had dropped from $3200 to $1290.

The "leader" kept saying the kid was trying to earn a trip to New Orleans and just had to demo the vacuum but that I would not be pressured into buying one -- bulls*&t! Two hours later, the price on the vacuum had dropped from $3200 to $1290, after several calls (yeah, right) to the "boss" with the caveat "don't tell any of your neighbors because we don't do this often, but..."

During the demonstration the kid who was giving me the demonstration said that Warren Buffett (you know the multi-millionare) had actually spent 100s of thousands of dollars developing this latest model Kirby!!!

It is too bad the sales people are such shysters and that I can't just go into a store to buy a Kirby as I would love to have one, but refuse to buy one from a door to door salesman who use these kind of tactics.

All of the comments on here that reflect on Shy Enterprises in a positive light are clearly written by the same person, probably one of Shy's douche bag minions...Look at the way the same person (under different names) writes about hard work and then immaturely insults people that have been dicked over. I work 50 hours a week and have to deal with lazy morons but the bait and switch scheme and an F rating from the better business bureau reek of a scam. I'm just glad I didn't potentially sit through an interview where these dickfarts tried to make me uncle Rico there overpriced "cleaning systems." It's so easy to prey on desperate people in this economy, good work Shy you are in my "dirty butthole" hall of fame.

U obviously work for these scam artists bc u sound just like the man that practically pushed himself into my home without telling me what he was there to show me...very professional. And u need to learn how to spell as well doll. Kirby does not work any better than any other bag or canister vacuum...end of story. It's sad actually how this asshole gets into ur heads and makes u believe all of the 'kirby is the best' CRAP. I feel bad for u...I really do. But go on ahead and sell ur vacuums that lose air flow (which is what does the cleaning...not suction!) once the bag is lined with dust & dirt. Which then goes back into the air u breathe out of the pores of the bag. Sorry but you've been completely mislead into thinking that these 'Cadillac of vacuums' are the greatest thing and worth almost 3 grand. If u wanna spend that much on a floor cleaner, I very highly recommend a Rainbow. I love mine. Can't beat water as ur filter dummy!

Yes, I worked for them in 2007, and I can tell you that they are very shady. First I saw one of those supposed "Carpet Cleaning" ads of theirs on Craigslist, and slowly found out it was just a door to door Kirby Vacuum job. I think the different Kirby reseller stores tend to be pretty shady in their dealings, and Shy is no exception. We would knock on people's doors and offer a free carpet cleaning of a room, and then afterwords try to sucker them into buying the 2,000 dollar vacuum.
We also didn't get a salary, instead it was all commission-based work, and if you didn't sell a vacuum you didn't get paid some weeks.
I think if you are great sales person, and are very very dishonest and don't have much of a conscience, you can do very well in this business. I left Shy Enterprises (and Kirby) because I felt it was unethical to work there.
that's hilarious bc I have worked there for 3 months and get paid very well like very well and I didn't sell for 3 weeks straight, and for one they don't resell Kirby's lol they sell new ones right out of the box it's called a franchise guess you didn't pay much attention in life growing up when people described things!!!! Lol but yeah have fun

So your comment was exactly like the website, extremely vague and offers no insite into what the company actually does. If you feel that some people on here are being rude, shady, and saying things that they know nothing about please educate us. All of these other people have provided work experiences not an "oh I heard this."

Yes I did. I made a lot of money. It can be a great company to work for. I just couldnt handle the lack of promotion. Seeing men get promoted before me that realky sucked. The mental abuse. Lary shy likes to put his people down and them build them up. He puts them against each other. He feeds into his people to start fights. No such thing as team work in that office. His managers and himself only think of women to be not as valuable as his male employees. Its been years and im still not over it. Lary is obsessed with his video camera also its weird. He acts like his shit dont stink and that he is somebody famous. He has a horrible drinking problem. The kirby company is all about promotion but lary shy doesn't promote. Well untill just recently but you have to be with him for years before any real promotion. If your a single man with no family obligations this job has great possibilitys just not for woman. Its been years and im still very upset and wished I had taken different actions.

I still think the kirby company has many good distrubters and great opportunits available for both men and woman. Its worth checkimg out. Dont judge the kirby business on this rude, disgusting, sexest, uncaring, poor excuse of a man. Lary shy should be shut down but he wont be. Btw only reason im responding to this stupid blog is bec I cant sleep. All of these people saying kirbys r not good vacs dont know what they r talking about. Also never go off a blog to know if a job is right for you. Come on people.

larry shy will do you over. He dosnt care. Dont go on those road trips of his, if you do youll regret it for the rest of your life. Go back to school while your doing kirby so you dont waste the years like I have. Dont get me wrong ive made good money but it wasnt worth it. Yeah and when you meet larry he will seem great but just wait. FYI they are not your bosses. You are an independent contracter. You file 1099s for your taxes. Save money from each of your paychecks. Dont letnlary control you. If you need a day a few off take it. They can not fire you.

One thing the kirbys dont retail to 3200.
second the trips are for real
third the kid was telling you what they taught him. Warren buffet owns controlling stock in the kirby comp.
they do invest time and money into the new machines.

You were prob so rude to the kid he prob went over on it bec he was nervis.

I would rather have the Dyson ball. No bags at a fraction of the price. No annoying salesmen at your door either.
If you honestly think a dyson would ever be better then a Kirby you obviously have never done any comparisons for yourself. Kirby builds UP TO A STANDARD while other vacuum companies build down to a price. They are sold door to door because it works... It is not a dishonest business and anyone who thinks so is a customer who didn't want to be sold or a ex-employee who quit before they even learned the business.
HEY DYSON OWNERS CHECK THIS LINK OUT. Its from a carpet company called Unique Carpets.
Look at Vacuum Recommendation. http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs017/1103...
P.S. if you want to talk about sales gimmicks and such..The only reason there's no bags is to set the impression that its picking up dirt and doing its job as a Vac. Do your research. Regular vacs like Dysons leave 80-90% of dirt dust and dander BEHIND. AND GUESS WHAT? when you empty the DIRT you have to come IN CONTACT WITH IT. They also get you on a permanent payment plan with filters ($15-40$ each filter and some dysons have two).
Sure some you can wash some of them yourself but then you're still coming in contact with dirt. ON TOP OF THAT you can have GODS filtration but it will only filter what it "picks up"... Hahaha c'mon guys it doesn't take a rocket scientist its only logical.
