"It's a really good store -- you can compare it to Target"

Mervyn's junk is being replaced by Kohl's junk.

Capitola is moving up in the world!

Hopefully no one walks all over & crushes someone to death to get "discounted" Vera Wang, or low end Chaps clothing.

Eh -- they've got some good stuff. Once on vacation elsewhere, I stopped over at the local Kohl's and bought myself a couple of Hawaiian-style shirts. People still compliment me on those shirts.

The Target that wants to go to Scotts Valley should have been forced to go in the Mall.

Our City Planners must be 7 years old.

Voice of Reason... it really doesn't work like that. You can't force Target to move into the mall. Besides I doubt Scotts Valley would appreciate Capitola poaching in on their potential sales tax revenue.

Kohls is a good fit for the mall. I hope it does well.

I sure hope that Kohls is going to enlarge the sq footage! The current Mervyn's is to small to have a full selection of their goods. You only have to look at the Mini Macy's to know they would do better if they had a better selection.

Kohls will do well in Capitola and I can't wait for Target in Scotts Valley. More of my tax dollars will be staying in Santa Cruz County and that benifits us all!

This is the same Kohls that just went out of business in Scotts Valley around a year ago, right?

Yeah, this is going to work out great.

Where was there a Kohl's in Scotts Valley? Are you thinking of Gottschalks (they just sold furniture) near KMART?

Uh, no. We've never had a Kohl's. Did you even read the article? It CLEARLY stated that.

I am so excited for this store. So much better than trashy Mervyn's.

Good fit for all...I've shopped Kohl's and it has better quality goods than Mervyn's of late. The Mall Mgmt. has also announced a 'Coach' store is coming into old Wet Seal space. My FAVORITE place to shop is Christopher & Banks...awesome women's clothes, quality, price and selection...Real Clothes for Real Women! Check it out!

I hate Kohls. I went to one in the valley last year and it was awful. But I suppose it's better than nothing and will supply a few people with jobs... until the whole chain goes BK in a year or two.

I can't resist this, life goes on after the Mervyns vacated that site, now it's a Kohl's.

Will kohl's rehire the Mervyn's employees? Giving them priority and benefits? Mervyn's was a terrible company to work for no benefits for hourly workers, low pay, and no raises.

Khols was never in SC County before. Especially not in SV. We do all our shopping at Khols in SJ for Xmas and all year. Now our tax dollars can remain where we live. Khols has excellent upscale merchandise for fair prices where Mervyns only pandered to the ethnic cheap goods. Welcome Khols, finally a decent store in SC! Its about time.

About stores and the way their employees are being treated. My understanding is that Winco's, which we have one here in Redding, Winco employees own Winco's. They tried a Smart and Final up here, it closed its doors, but they should've done a study before opening their doors. We've got Winco's with name brands dirt cheap, Grocery Outlet,(which could've moved from Felton to Watsonville down there in S.C.C.) Food Max,.99 Cents and now Walmart is adding space for groceries. Grocery stores not clothing.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Cancer

You'll be happiest when you're with people who make you feel loved and cherished. You'll bend over backwards to keep them sweet, and will concede arguments and disputes for the sake of peace. Try not to make it peace at any price because that could be setting up problems with people who will then try to take advantage of your good nature. Co-operation is one thing, being a doormat is quite different.
