Do you have outdoor pets?

I was letting my dog out last night into the back yard, and shut the door really quick! It's very cold out now. She only spent a minute out there, and sped back into the house where it's warm. She knows she's a lucky dog.
Not every dog or cat is so lucky. Some are chained with heavy log chains that pull on their necks and get tangled until they're unable to move more than a foot or so. Cats have no shelter. They sleep under a car or a porch to stay dry. Have you ever tried that in weather like this? I've seen dogs with frozen water, no food, in a feces filled kennel with a lean to for shelter, no hay on the floor. No one to talk to them or pet them. Locked up like that for the rest of their lives. Some don't even get shelter. They're chained up out in the weather, wet and cold.
Make sure your pet is in a clean environment, give them a place to get out of the weather, lay down hay for them to sleep on, feed them well and give them fresh water. They have no choice and no voice. Take care of them. If you can't, find them a good home with people who will. Don't dump them in the country. Imagine if you were that dog or cat. How would it feel if someone did that to you? Just step outside tonight with no coat and sit on the concrete for about 5 minutes. See how it feels. Have some compassion, and make your pet comfortable. They love you unconditionally, no matter what. What do you do for them?
