North Central Regional Jail

My fiance is currently in North Central Regional Jail and all he has had to say about the jail is that they have treated everyone like shit. He was taken to a court hearing in December and when himself and others were brought back around 7 they were given cool food that had been sitting there since everyone else had ate. When we sent him money for his comminsary it took more than a week for him to recieve it. He had absolutely nothing for the first week he was in there. Then when he was finally able to put his first order in he didn't recieve that until a week after he was suppose too. The first week he was in there the weather was freezing outside and when he got back in his cell to go to sleep there was water leaking into his bed and onto his pillow. He later became sick and wasnt put on any kind of medications. This place is seriously a horrible place to be. He would rather be sent to a state prison right now rather than stay in there for another year and a half. He just informed me the other night that the guards have been giving them the option of going outside but they are asking them 5:30 in the morning because the guards know that noone will want to go out because it is so incredibly cold outside. There needs to be something done with this place. I have lost complete respect for the judicial system and the officers that treat these people like shit. They are humans just like us!

Not every officer is like that. Right now i am trying to get on at that faciltiy. i can assure you that i am no way that type of person and know others who feel the same. there are also alot of inmates who try to push everyone around in there thats why some of them get treated the way they do. i am not saying that everyone deserves the same treatment just because they are there, but after so many times of dealing with horrible people you just worry about getting your job done and getting home....

North Central Regional Jail is indeed worse than prison! I know that they give the inmates dirty clothes to wear, spoiled milk to drink, C.O.'s beat inmates (sometimes to death, literally), They take there toilet paper away for a cruel punishment. Alot of people that I speak to at the Regional jail also agrees with these things. My husband has been there since 2004 for stealing a $9.00 bottle of liquor. Still after being property of D.O.C. is still there. He is being illegally incarcerated there. D.O.C. has more rights than a Jail, so therefore they are denying him of his rights. he has served almost 1000 days incarcerated and 176 days on home conefinement and the judge ordered that he be credited all his time served. He received his time sheet and the parole board only credited him 204 days incarcerated and 176 days home conefinement. This makes it that he won't be home until September 2011. This is due to the lack of lawyers and Prosecutor's doing there jobs and sitting on there asses and expecting paid! Good luck to all that has the same problem with the system screwing you and your family over....
it was no one's fault but your husbands that he stole something and got caught -

i have been in ncrj before, it is not fun trust me. i do believe there are some inmates that do ask for there treatment at ncrj but there are also inmates that are there for such crimes as mine<dui>and get treated like murderers and i dont think its right.also there are guards there that do flirt w u and if u blow them off u better expect bad treatment afterwards!it is a bunch of bull about the nurses having sex w inmates they are watched by co,and the incident w the co having sex w inmate is true but u get alot of girls in there that throw themselves at the guards too.all i suggest is to stay to yourself and do your time dont let the time do u!!!!!!

I am a CO at NCRJ in Greenwood. All the peopl that are complaining about the jail haven't a clue as to what they are complaining about. I have worked there for more than a year and I have NEVER seen and inmate wearing dirty clothes unless they were to lazy to get out of bed when laundry came, which happens daily. The inmates get respect from us when they give it! There are cops and CO's that have a chip on their shoulder, but they are few and far between. As for the food, the inmates out to court get a bag lunch when they go, and they got a bag lunch when they return after 5pm. The inmates have MORE rights than I do! We have inmates who obey the rules and then we have ones that buck the system no matter what. We DO NOT beat inmates, it is highly illegal. We use the same force as police officers and we stop using force when they stop resisting. In short, there are bad and good inmates. I am NOT going to stand by and watch my fellow officer get stabbed or beat on by an inmate, neither would you. I expect the same from my fellow officers. I also give the inmates respect and treat them as human beings, not animals. I do not judge them for their crimes. I am fair and impartial, like I am supposed to be. The horror stories you get from the inmates are ways to get sympathy from you to make them look better. Until you walk a mile in a CO's shoes, don't judge me and won't judge you. It is a job, it's nothing personal!

Jail isn't a Hotel. It's a place for people who break the law. Now he is in there for a resaon. He was found guilty for something. He should count his blessings, the Lord was beat and hung on a cross for something he didn't do. It could be worse. If you thought about it awhile and realize that Guards read this stuff too, you may have made life even a bigger Hell for the Post. Some things are better left alone. Like the saying goes... What happens on the Mile .. stays on the Mile.... read between the lines....

My son is in NCRJ for probation violations. As of right now he is alright. He was suppose to have a patch that lasted for 7 days for withdrawal and was given this before he went to NCRJ, but when he got there the CO ripped it off and said the only thing you get is stomach cramps from heroine withdraw. I know that if naything happens to him while he is there or any other place I will make such a stink that they will wish they never knew me. The sad part is, that the PO in Morgantown, WV knew that he was using again and he even tested postitive twice and asked for help and was give a nuber for a hotline to call. I was informed myself by the PO office that they are looking into getting him help but she had to go through the director who must of just turned her back or the Po officer did not do her job to begin with, seeing that most of them are WVU students. See everything in this town resolves around the WVU students, not the individual who pay the taxes. Also his court appointed attoreny sucks. He has written her twices and tried t call her and she does not reply. Some system here in Monongalia County. I would watch your P & Q if your are ever in this town.

Getting a love one help for an addiction in WV is about impossible. Sorry you are going through this with your son. I hope he gets the help he needs! I don't think putting people in jail helps. It does keep them off the streets for a while so they don't hurt themselves and/or others, but it is not a long term solution. Never has been.

Let's be honest here. You son is a smack head. His problem is one he created on his own. By blaming everyone but your son for his problems its no wonder why he acts the way he does. He is where he belongs and I hope he is miserable, he earned it by shoving needles in his arm. Jail is for criminals you morons, it isn't meant to be a pleasurable experience.

Didn't a inmate get killed in the NCRJ? I thought I remembered something about that.Happened about a year or so ago. I'm not sure if a guard had done it or not. Maybe another inmate?
Actually, the man was not killed by anyone. He had a history of heart disease, and he died of heart failure, NOT at the hands of anyone. He just went to his cell and dropped over.

FYI, CO's are NOT allowed to do anything like you described, and if they do..they can be held accountable. ALL medical issues are handled by the medical staff which is run by PRIMECARE, NOT NCRJ

look people this is life behind bars. All they had to do was keep there asses off the streets. ,and out of trouble. Then they would'nt have to live in there and be treated like criminals. The TRASH needs to be in there and not in our neighborhoods.

I was an officer at the NCRJ. Of course inmates say that its the worst place they have ever been but more then half of the same inmates return to the jail within six months. If its that horrible then why do they keep coming back??? I can say that I was one of the lucky officers who never had a problem with any of the inmates and was treated with respect. The best thing I can say is to stay to yourself and dont get caught up with thinking that another inmate is your friend because as soon as something goes down they are the first one to rat you out. Just stay to yourself and you will be okay. And about officers 'beating' inmates, I have never known that to happen. Believe me the officers at the jail can not cover up anything. Everything is documented and everything is investigated. It just doesn't happen exactly the way some of the inmates wants everyone to believe. And the thing about 21 officers beating one guy IS NOT true. I would say when there is an officer assistance call there may be a max number of 10 officers that can leave their post to respond.
