I just recently found and began monitoring the Salem Forum, as I used to live there and was interested in what is happening around and about town. I truly thought this may be a source to keep up with the current affairs of the town and how it is growing.

In observing the forum for a few weeks now, I have noticed that most of the posters have difficulty using proper grammer, which would make their posts, stance and opinion a great deal more understandable as well as comprehensable.

It also seems to be a place to vent anger. Some seem soooo angry when typing, which is evidenced by their too many mispelled and misused words that permiate their posts.

Do they not proof read what they have written? Are they aware that they are coming across as someone void of a good command of the language with writing skills akin to that of a third grader?

Most of what is written is a complaint about someone or a slam against who ever they don't happen to agree with at the time.

Does anyone have anything good to say out there?

I am re-thinking my decision to monitor what's happening in Salem through the forum. Clearly the ignorance is rising and the intellegence is waning and apparantly, what is happening in Salem is that those who frequent the forum are behaving as though they are still in junior high.

Bleeehhhhhkkkhhh.... No thanks!

Former Salemite,

You are so right.

Salem changed from the great place that it once was when you lived there into a place of low lifes who don't recognize what good that Antereo, SIU, and other outsiders can do for them.

The current population is content with living their low life style while people like Nancy and Doug try to get in to run things just so that they can suck the rest of life out of the place.

I try to bring some intelligence to the place but I can do only so much.

The best answer may be to let Lake Floyd or Bristol to annex Salem so that we can get some well deserving outsiders like me to run the place.

Change brings progress. Sometimes, in the name of progress, what we know needs a good challenge to instigate thought and fact gathering.

Good decisions are brought after much thought and fact gathering and is often not aired, which can appear as having been a hasty decision.

Antero, Carl Smith, plus the other companies that are in the process of putting in pipelines and drilling wells are tearing things up a bit to bring progress to the outlying areas of Salem. HOWEVER, when the process of bringing progress is complete, I expect there will be new roads and a bit of updated infrastructure in place that will bring much improvement to the area.

In the meantime, many who were unemployed are now receiving a paycheck due to the process of progress taking place in the area.

There are many facets to a subject. Too bad that most only see what is on the surface and complain about what they can see, not realizing the majority of what is, is unseen.

You have the right to talk about slamming people? What do you think you are doing? Making fun of people just because they might misspell a word makes you just as guilty and also IGNORANT in my opinion! If you don't like what you read on this forum or any forum for that matter I think it might be in your best intrest to avoid reading them. We might have issues with language and writing skills at times but you take the cake when it comes to STUPID! P.s. Not everyone is perfect but to complain about people slamming others and then you doing it to makes you a great cannidate for the you you might be a redneck joke! Lol. Have a nice day.

This person is not putting other people down. They are noticing that everyone on this site complains and bitches about how terrible this town is. Only one or two have any positive suggestions and even fewer do anything. I agree

To Former Salemite-- Don't give up yet. Last night's council meeting was a huge step forward. SIU agreed to hire/pay for a full time grant writer for the city. I worked for a few places that had a staff grant writer. This will be great for Salem.

Nancy,

SIU once again suckered the idiots of Salem into getting out of paying taxes and you have the gull to twist the story to make it sound like some type of victory.

Grant writer? SIU is going to have someone to apply for grants (try to smooch off the federal government) and you call that a victory?

Have you and Doug ever considered staying in Jane Lew to see if those people will believe your nonsense?

Pretty soon, SIU and Antereo will control all of Salem and hopefully will run the place right. If not, Salem could always ask to be annexed as part of Lake Floyd or Bristol.

Jerry- Do you ever go to meetings? If you did you would know that there is a written agreement for this to happen.

Have you ever written a grant? If you did you would know that they can be worth a lot of money.

Regardless, anything that gets people to cooperate instead of argue helps Salem.

simply put in my mind....
if you dont like what u read or how it is written == dont read it.
if you dont like Salem or its officials either vote them out, run against them. or must move to a more PALITABLE place to live.
salem is no different than most other small town around here it is just more out in the open with the laundry lately.

dont like it dont read it. and i am a college grad with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. I am certainly not uneducated. I post as I communicate to others not like I was speaking before the Congress,.. Please.. but were glad your here to remind us how stupid we appear to other on the outside.

City of Salem fix our roads u make our town look poor and trashy. Terrance Ave. needs repaved not put a bandage on it. They come off and the other road Trough Street up hill from Terrance has a deep big hole people could damage their cars if u want to clean it up that would be great yes theres a drug promblem here that needs fixed but city workers can do the roads while the police fix the other promblems. Hell children cant ride a bike they would hit a hold and hurt themselves they we need good roads so please work on this before winter
