The girl was better off getting hit by a car...Dismiss the Chief from his position.

The excuses get better and better. There is one reason to use a taser and one reason only: to subdue a physically violent person who has struck you or is about to. This man sounds like one of the biggest cowards of the century.

Hey Bob that would actually be incorrect. This girl assaulted her mother and left the police station. When he found her she bolted. He was well within proper procedures to TASER her at that point... assuming those details are correct.

We'll see what is made public and hopefully all the facts will com eout. Thus far it has been spun pretty much in favor of the kid.

To TASER her? To painfully electrocute someone with a potentially lethal weapon? So try to pursue her and if she gets away so be it. A teen girl that young will surface soon enough.

I know I'm only 14 years old and a "girl," but I'm a real THREAT to society and I can run really really fast! Who knows where or what I would have done had that nice POLICE OFFICER failed to TASE me. I can't wait to sue him, the city and state!:-)

ps "Random Joe" kiss my ass!

Being a fire fighter I can imagine how hard it can be to respond properly in such situations. Anyway I would have expected that a seasoned officer and chief of police finds more appropriate ways to respond and handle the situation.

If anyone here actually takes the time to watch the dash-cam video of this incident...

http://www.cnjonline.com/video/index.php...

...it's pretty clear the Chief isn't being straight about the "traffic". Not at all.

There *was* no traffic.

Chief, it's time to retire. Like (former) Officer Robert Powell in Texas, thank God we have the internet, video, and other sources of information that continually make it more and more difficult for guys like yourself to tell tall tales while hiding behind a badge.

Three cheers for dash-cam video: It is both the boon and bane of law enforcement; it is the truth-seeing, tell-all evidence that no cop nor criminal can escape.

And, three cheers to the honest,*real* cops out there. We love you, and are sad that you have to share the badge with guys like (former) Tucumcari Police Chief Roger Hatcher and (former) Dallas Police Officer Robert Powell.

Watching the vid I think he should have been able to catch up with her easy enough without the taser. She is just a girl running away, not a real threat for a seasoned officer ...

You mean to tell me that he couldn't run down a 14 year old girl Hell I can run and catch my niece I know because she likes to try to out run me. If he is a cop he should be able to it was just easier to use the Taser just lazy.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Scorpio

Let the past stay in the past for now. Even though you may have fond memories of intense experiences, the Virgo Moon sees to it that you have virtually no desire to go there again just yet. This is your opportunity to show others what you can do in a more civilised environment. Don't try to shout down someone who is rude enough to interrupt. As unlikely as it may seem, the softest voice has the biggest chance of being heard today.
