Yuck! I saw the pics of the house on the news this morning. It was disgusting. I don't know how anyone could live in that. And to think they have kids living there too.

Having a two year old myself I cannot understand how parents could let this happen in even the worth of circumstances. My hearts go out to the children and I am going to give mine an extra hug today.

Yes you certainly did read that right! Just unbelievable...I'd love to hear the justification on THAT one. These people aren't fit to breathe our air, let alone raise children!!!

The house is clearly unkept; By the pictures shown on the news and in other online news sites this home looks totally gross

Were all the rooms in the pictures used for sleeping areas or living space for the children

was the mess the result of a holiday bash or too many diapered kids left poorly supervised for the day?

how much of the mess was the result of the inpsection process that followed the child's return?

are the children's medical up to date; any rashes or bugs on the kids?

Media has a way of making a situation more "spectacular"

I don't care how poor you are, there is no need for children to be living in such conditions.
I hope these kids have relatives or grandparents who will take them in.
Both of these parents should be sterilized now!
Being poor is no excuse for living in filth. Last I checked soap and water were inexpensive enough for anyone to maintain themselves and their belongings.

My cat takes better care of her kitty liter box, I can't get over that there are still people out there that can actually live in such filth...is it mental illness? Did family memebers notice or maybe some friends noticed that something is definitely not right here...hello! Poor kids that have to be born into these individuals life.

Unfortunately, this isn't so rare. Being a mother and an educator at a Lowell Public Elementary School, there are many families living in similar situations & circumstances. It is very saddening and all you want to do is clean the students and give them new clothes, make sure they are well-fed (ast school) etc. That care can only go so far, because they are only in school 6 hours a day. We do the best we can to give them the healthiest environment as we can at school. So many of them are faced with such inexplicable living conditions. When we call DSS, investigators are spread too thin to be able to investigate all of these situations. I just wish there was a way to prevent it so it doesn't come to attention too late - like it does in so many cases! No child should be living in such squalor. Adults (parents, but some of these "parents" do not deserve that term) are responsible for the health, welfare & safety of their children and if they are not doing so, they are a disgrace and their parental rights should be taken away.

people who do not care.
children are defenseless. and when they have 'parents' like this, there is no hope - unless DSS intervenes.
It is just so sad.

No it is just how they choose to spend "Their Money" or I should say OUR TAX DOLLARS.
They are selfish people who do not care
