I have been to the new Scoops Ice Cream Place twice now. Both times I got a single scoop cone. What I got was a very small scoop not even as big as a tennis ball. NOW I have been to the Central Dairy in Jefferson City and Rolla. Both places first fill the cone with some ice cream then put a big scoop on top. They do this for $1.75 where Salem gives you less and charges $2.00 Now Maybe it was just that they are new but I would bet they won't last long charging $2 for a small scoop cone.

I agree, the one in Rolla gives you much more ice cream.

I am all in favor of smaller portions. Have you noticed the number of obese people? It is time we eliminate "super size". In addition, higher prices will prevent the poor (who tend to be obese) from feeding their own bad habit. Look at this as a way to combat obesity and diabetes. I say $10.00 for a small scoop.

I did not say I would drive to Rolla to save 25 cents, I only made the comparison.

I suppose the real lesson to be learned from the complainer is simple. Selfishness. When this person is unwilling to pay the extra .25 and this business closes (as they seem to advocate) then all of the employees loose their source of income (i.e. "job"). Then the person unwilling to pay the extra .25 becomes "more important" in their own mind as "they have a job" and "these other people don't". Isn't that the real issue. I suppose they also purchase cheap Chinese made goods at Wal-mart because "their cheaper" with no thought to the American worker or the economy of our fine Nation. Then they can place "blame" on a political party or president for "shipping our jobs overseas" and "doing nothing to fix the economy." This is probably the same person who tips the waitress little of nothing because "she gets a paycheck anyway."

I am always happy saving a buck buying Chinese crap, at least till it breaks as I open the package or the first time I use it. Cheap broken Chinese junk, half empty ice cream cones, obese homeless people.... Sigh, what happened to America?

If it ain't big enough get two scoops. Look at the bright side, it's better than paying 7.50 at six flags, for a measly waffle cone, lol

I paid a 1.59 for a drumstick today. That sucker was full of ice cream and even had carmel in it. Some people just want to be unhappy.

Yea I bet your are the type that would complain if you went to the 5th St. Pub and only got 3/4 mug of chinese beer. I doubt if you would keep going back? But when you buy your kids an ice cream cone and only get half a cone its OK.

If you went to Mc Donalds and only got half a soda or half a hamberger I doubt if you would keep going back just to keep them in business.

The counterpoint to this is that McDonalds does employ several people. I must confess I contribute to other local businesses, but not too much to McDonald's restaurant. As a large corporation, I have issues with the corporate structure as well as what I see as the exploitation of their employees. This is one of the same reasons I avoid Wal-Mart. It is not an issue of the "cost" of their products and services. I would hope that any business that contributes to the overall economy would be successful. I can't say that I have been a patron of the ice cream stand, but I may give it a try and tip my waiter to boot. I have a simple suggestion, if you feel it is "too expensive" and "not within your budget" then perhaps you should not patronize this establishment. If, however, you still feel "compelled" to go, even though you can't afford it, you might try asking other customers if "they can spare some change so you can have an ice cream cone" I am certain someone will find it within their heart to buy you one.

But when you buy your kids an ice cream cone and only get half a cone its OK. Thank you Randy. I have not been to the 5th street pub. I do like a nice Tsingtao with a spicy Chinese entree. I didn't know they had Chinese beer. I tend to go to the Roadhouse and have a beer from a bottle and they are all regulated to have the "same amount". There is a GREAT idea for you, try to lobby our government to have an "official size" for all ice cream scoops. You would need a special license to sell ice cream and an entire government agency could be created to go to each shop to ensure you were getting the "approved" size scoop. Further, we should have some sort of regulation whereby the price was "limited" to a certain amount and "ice cream ceiling" if you will. Now to pay for your regulatory agency, it is obvious the price of ice cream will have to go up. As for your comment about "buying your kids ice cream"... As I suggested to the last poster you might try standing at the door asking other customers for spare change. If you tell them "all my child every wanted was an ice cream cone, but they want "the big cone" and that is an extra .25 and I won't pay that" I bet someone will find the change to buy them an extra large ice cream cone. I would be happy to do that myself. I will look for you standing at the door with the tin cup.

Pay more for a product or service just so some one can keep an over paid job i.e. United Auto Workers. OR Take charity or handouts rather then be competive in the market place. Bet you voted for Obama

Perhaps you could volunteer to have your salary cut, I am certain your employer would be more than happy to do that.

Which "ice cream worker's union" do you suppose they belong to?
