Going thru same thing thought i just had a lemonDear Survey says, Simply put, you get what you pay for. I was the first person in dent county to buy a Econo furnace. I know this because I went to Dodd Brothers heating and cooling in Falcon, Mo and bought it directly from them. They are the manufacturer and distributer. I paid $3250 for it and thought I was getting a good stove. I was nothing but dissappointed with it. I'll start a list.
There is no insulation on the bottom or the front so you loose a lot of heat that way.
There are no grates which makes it a pain in the ass to get the ashes out. Now you can buy grates for, at that time $600. I put grates for a hardy in mine and they worked fine.
The door is the same size as the firebox which is good to put wood in but when you open it you get smoked every time and the door on mine didnt seal up very good and the latch didnt work well either.
The blower on the door has a flapper that shuts when the blower turns off to keep it from drawing air and overheating. Good design but its too close to the firebox and gets clogged up with soot and then sticks open and then your stove turns into a steam engine. You have to stick something in there a least twice a week to clean that flapper.
I was told when I bought it that it hardly ever needs to be refilled with water. BULL__IT!!! I had to take the back of the stove off and fill it every other day. Its no big deal, just turn on a valve for a few minutes but still a pain. My stove was always steaming. I even turned it down to 160 degrees and still had to fill it a lot. Now, you can buy this tower they sell for it for $60 to help with the steam loss.
My blower quit after two months. The temp. unit quit after three months. They wouldnt pay for either. My blower cover fell off the first month.
I had nothing but bad experiances with my stove and when I sold my house I was glad to let the stove go with it. The way I see it if you buy a Econo and then buy all the options for it, its almost the same price as a Hardy and not near the stove a hardy is.
Well, I hope this helps you in your decision.
But seems to be a normal thing with this stove.
And the warranty is only good for wiping your a## on.
It kinda hurts to spend your hard earned money on something that only last a year. But worse that someone dont stand behind what they sell.
