Are Mormons the same as Christians? I'm not really religious, so could someone explain this to me? I keep getting conflicting info.

No they are not! They have their own bible, with crap in it! They believe in more than one wife, so what do you think?

Maybe a little off topic - but are there any religions where a woman can have more than one husband?

Might just google Mormonism vs. Christianity. Seems there are many differences as well as many similarities. Good luck and happy researching. BTW great question!

Mormons are Christian and no they do not believe in multiple wives. That's Is a confusion by many. Fundamentalist latter day saints. Are excommunicated from the Mormon church. Some beliefs do differ but not much. I have a catholic fiancé and his teachings do not vary much from mine.

The Mormon Church is actually named "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We do follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and read from the King James version of the Bible. We do not practice paligomy, although there was a time, before 1890, that they did. If you want to know more about us, I would advise going to mormon.org , or going to a Sunday service sometime. It is always better to go to the source, you wouldn't ask a Honda dealer about the new Ford would you?

Polyandry (Greek: poly—many, andras—man) refers to a form of marriage in which a woman takes two or more husbands at the same time. Polyandry is prohibited by Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam and it is illegal in most countries, including those that permit polygyny.

We Baptize for the dead by proxy. Someone would be babptized for and on behalf of the reletive. Everyone should have the orinance of Baptism as Christ taught.

Im not religious, rather spiritualist....but I have grown up in church, always being non-denominational. I have looked into many different religions and yes Mormons are a considerable bit different than the traditional form of christianity, but still the same are christians. The definition of christian is to believe in christ the savior and follow his teachings. That being said, though, mormons differ a lot. Their religion starts with a man named Joseph Smith who they believe was given a new book of the bible to teach to his followers (im paraphrasing a bit and may be slightly wrong, but thats the gist) That book is where they start to differ from traditional christians. And yes, traditional Mormans practice have multiple wives. No, most nowadays do not but thats only because it is illegal so it is a practice they have dropped. There are still mormon communities that do. There are specials on it, so you can't say it doesn't happen. Im not saying that mormons are wrong, just as i don't believe any one religion is wrong, but they are quite different from most denominations of christianity. Actually, if you ask me, all organized religion is wrong to a degree, but for the most part on the right path. We get caught up too much on what religion to follow, and lose what is important, which is to believe in God the father (or whatever you want to call our creator, for He is the great I Am and has not one name but many) and find peace in our lives while living our lives to be the best person we can and helping others. Even Jesus Christ stormed the temple and spoke out against organized religion, stating that no building is our church, rather any place where we gather to worship and pray, even if that is a log or rock or river (yes I am paraphrasing again).

I believe, according to the Bible, that Abraham had several wives, including Sarah, and his Egyptian servant. Ashur had 2 wives, Belshazzar had wives and concubines.Caleb had many wives and concubines also..seems this was pretty standard way of life according to the Bible, not John Smith.
David..wow..
David arose and went, along with his men, and killed two hundred of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, which were given in full number to the king, that he might become the king’s son-in-l aw. And Saul gave him his daughter Michal for a wife. The First Book of Samuel 18:27,
When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said,“Blessed be the Lord who has avenged the insult I received at the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from wrongdoing. The Lord has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent and spoke to Abigail, to take her as his wife. The First Book of Samuel 25:39,
David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel, and both of them became his wives. The First Book of Samuel 25:43,
And the sixth, Ithream, of Eglah, David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron. The Second Book of Samuel 3:5,
And David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he came from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to David. The Second Book of Samuel 5:13,
Nathan said to David,“You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. 8And I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more. The Second Book of Samuel 12:7 – 8,

Then David comforted his wife, Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her, and she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. And the Lord loved him. The Second Book of Samuel 12:24, David is the most significant man on this list thus far; not only was he the king of Israel, he is also the penman behind hundreds of chapters of Scripture.
And he was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22).
Make no mistake that there was sin in David’s life. He committed adultery, and murdered in order to get away with it. He was as human as the rest of us, yet he was highly favored by the Lord.
And he was a polygynist.

It’s easy enough to attribute David’s problems to some sort of insatiable lust, but the Scriptures do not point us in that direction.

On the contrary, 2 Samuel 12:7 – 8 (quoted above) and the surrounding context reveal that David rebelled against the Lord despite having multiple wives. The Scriptures go so far as to say that God Himself gave David multiple wives and that, if they were not sufficient, He would give David even more!
