Because I'm sure it would take an Act of Congress to get one.
It'll have to be voted on by the people of Salem and then if it passes to get one, there are a couple of people that will start bitchin' because it'll cost too much for the tax payers. They'll want everyone investigated and call St. Louis to come down here and check out if the election was done correctly and if we really do need a flag. Then they'll send it to the aldermen(hahahahah) to vote on it. Then they'll have to call someone else to come investigate the aldermen. They'll spend hundreds of dollars trying to find some guilty party to blame for the flag being in such bad shape and then they'll sue somebody. Finally figuring out that they spent all that money for an investigation that was completely uncalled for they now can't afford a nice American flag anymore.
I think one of those big mouths(I do have someone in mind. She needs to put her money where her mouth is) that has caused the city of Salem so much money for frivolous lawsuits should dig into those deep pockets and do the right thing and donate an American Flag to the City of Salem.
SO WRONG

Do No Evil you must be talking about Joanne Maxwell. Seeing how the Maxwells have Kenny Nash in their pocket a new flag shouldn't be a problem.

From my understanding the City doesn't buy the flags flying within the city. Those are donated by the American Legion! Though, they are responsible for their change out. The old, used and tattered flags are ceremoniously burnt for disposal. The electric department, equipped with aerial bucket trucks are the ones tasked with the flag exchanges in the city.

Actually, that wasn't who I was talking about. I was talking about the loud-mouthed woman from the East Coast. The one that was in the entourage that cost the Salem tax payers a whole lot of money for no reason. A trouble maker.

But you have given me a very good idea. The Maxwell's are always boasting about doing things for Salem. But they either make money off it or it costs the Salem people money. I look at this as a very good deed for the Maxwell's to do. Let them donalte an American flag to Salem. This is something they can do for Salem that they won't be making any money back. That's what I call a good deed.

And as for Kenny Nash.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHA I do believe you're correct. But not for long

Hey Do No Evil, is the loud-mouth your speaking of the one who goes by "New Jersey"? I think she is one of Joanne's trained monkeys on the fair board. Go figure! Wonder who they will appoint board president now that Donald Durham has passed away? Maybe Kenny Nash or Red Cummings. Nash is soon to have extra time on his hands anyway. lol I guess he can go fishing in Maxwell's pond more often.

Since when did it become the duty of the taxpayers to provide shelter for anyone.
Thought that was the duty and purpose of charities.

Why do you find it necessary to trash Kenny Nash. He has always had the best interest of the taxpayers in heart when making a decision for the city. He was instrumental in keeping electric rates from going up even though they were raised to the city. He was responsible for getting the mayor to finally, after 7 years of failing to do so, fill the vacant position of director of public works. He voted not allowing a outside biomass power generator plant from being built in Salem. That one item would have doubled your electrical rates , not mentioning what it would do to the water system and wood supply. That one action kept numerous employers from shutting down and leaving Dent and surrounding counties. He helped get a new attorney to represent the city.
The city now has a new city administrator to run the day to day operation of the city and who has already saved the city 3 times his salary in wasted and misspent tax dollars.

Your problem with Kenny Mash appears to be personals. Maybe you need to attend a city meeting and see the improvements before venting your personal angers. The list goes on and on!

I keep watching CNN looking for this story, "Salem Missouri - Faded flag emergency shuts down city government - thousands protest at candelight vigil at flagpole - one protester sets himself on fire in defiance of the Nash/Brown regime!" I seem to keep missing it.

I don't believe Kenny Nash nor Bill Riley fit in the Maxwell's pocket. They both have their own back bones. They both have done many thing to protect the City of Salem.
Attend town meetings. The town needs YOU to stand up,get out of the "hear say" pocket of your neighbors, that is getting second hand information from the coffee stops. GO TO THE TOWN MEETINGS! Try it you might like voicing Your Own opinion and you'll know the truth!

Good luck to Salem,,,,ATTEND ATTEND ATTEND VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I see that I am a topic of this site yet once again. I would sure like to know why someone would call me a monkey. I do not believe in Darwinism, sorry if you don't know what that is. I am not in anyone's pocket and what I say I do so because that is what I believe. As far as being trained, I am getting my BA in August. Can you say the same? Kenny Nash has done nothing but try to help the people of Salem. I really think it would be very interesting to find out who all the people on this site are. Would you be surprised when the names surfaced. As for me, I will go about my business, do MY thing and try to help Salem the best that I can. People need to be more positive. If you wake up in the morning and said the day will be lousy than it will be but if you wake up and say it will be a wonderful day than it will. How bored people must be if all they have to do is complain and sit around and bash people. You all have a wonderful day.
