The 4-H Expo was amazing. I think that the ones bad mouthing it shouldn't be doing so unless they went and didn't like it. Some of the animals sold there were re-sold several times at the end of the auction, and the money went to help the family of a local girl who has cancer for the second time. They raised 16,000.00 for that family. I for one was very happy and proud of those kids, and the buyers of their animals.

Thats what a small town should be about. Helping each other out not trying to pull someone else down so you can use them for a steping stone.

Our family had a lot of good clean wholesome fun! Didn't experience anything negative from the stereotyped "carnies" to the Demo, no loud mouthed vulgar drunks, a real safe, clean, and nice bunch of people at the carnival midway...just a great memory! Yes ,there were slim crowds, but seemed like folks that wanted to enjoy their evening were there to have fun!

Dent Count fair has always been a fair wrapped around an auction. I think I'll let my fat kid go eat a corndog at the fair, I wasn't invited to the expo. Figure everybody can go just about anywhere they want, you can go see kids dragging cattle they didn't raise and I'll let mine ride the carnival.
for your information my childdren are in 4H and they do raise their own animals. maybe some dont. but it is a great learning experience and teaching good work habits. so some day when they are working hard and paying taxes they can pay for your kids to eat their corndogs, the invite to the expo was in paper

I think the fair group are just lashing out at the Expo because they know they lost a good thing. I went to the Expo and was very proud of the job everyone did. On the other hand I wouldn't waste my time on that joke of a fair.

Your all amazed that the thing ran smooth and entertained more people in one day then the whole expo. No fuss. You do your thing and step off down the road, they'll do theirs. The 4H and FFA kids had no dog in that fight, the kids are a front, a human shield for the leadership of that whole crowd. You think we didn't see who was their sitting in the crowd. I guess some of the 4H and FFA families snuck into the Fair and didn't tell you about it. You ain't got nothing to say, you've found the home you were looking for with Lough and the mules, enjoy! Sorry thing is you got to drag everybody with you. Seeya.

You were there for ten years and looking like you were enjoying it. That issue is easy, don't go back!

They need to get the old fair grounds fixed and move it back there, easier parking, you could walk there and they always had peformances nightly

The Commons own the old fair grounds too. Same owners, same problems.

If this is the Commons and Fair Boards lashing out at the Expo, all they are doing is harming themselves even more. If it is not, then you are helping the Commons and/or Fair Board in any way.

Dent County lost something which was turning into something really good but a few people had to think they knew better than those who worked so hard for so many years. My heart and thanks goes out to all those who worked so hard to put together the Commons. I am glad to hear the Expo went well, hope it continues to grow.

use of the dent county commons
The Dent County Commons is operated for the benefit of the residents of and the landowners within Dent County, Missouri. The facility is available for the use of but not restricted to the fore-described class of persons This facility is operated without client discrimination and regardless of:

Race; or,
Cultural Origin; or,
Sexual Preference(s); or,
Religion or belief system; or,
Social Status; or,
Economic Status; or,
Employer; or,
Employment Status; or,
Marital Status; or,
Physical Disability; or,
Mental Disability; or,
Level of Education
However, the Dent County Commons Association does, pursuant to pertaining state statutes, reserves the right to deny entry upon any and/or all properties under the corporation's control to any person, persons or entity without explanation or justification.
I see there was a problem with the 4H. Now my question is. Has any one tried to go to there functions? That had been associated with the Western Cherokee board or members. Besides the ones that went from the Western Cherokee to there. The commons discrimination notice backfires at bottom.

Your funny. All I want to know is if anyone has tried to go to there functions. There are quite a few of people that are members that they just do not like. I just wanted to know because I know people that will not take there children there because they dislike them. It is not right that these kids see the rides and not be able to go because you just might get treated like the bottom of that in front of your kids. Not trying to stir nothing but just a need to know.

The reasons people will not take their kids there are numerous, it ranges from dislike, distrust, guns being carried by people who have anger issues, too expensive to public fights by board members.
