No, haven't you heard? The judge issues warrants at random. Usually just put same names in a hat with some charges and then it's luck of the draw.....

Ok maybe it was smart assed. But look at the last line. Familiar or not, common sense tells you that obviously there is enough to make a judge believe she did something, thus the warrant. To get the warrant there had to be probable cause meaning there is enough evidence to believe a crime has been committed. It's not like people just get arrested for the heck of it. I know someone will dispute what I just said and tell their story about how they got arrested for no reason. If so, did they go to court and fight it or did they go to court and take one of the numerous plea deals that are handed out like candy? So Right and Rita, sorry if I came across the wrong way it just irritates me when people don't exercise common sense. Furthermore if you don't like what I post, don't read it and don't respond to it.

They don't put the names in a hat anymore, they draw straws now, and the shortest loses.

sorry if i came off smart assed lol im so awesome and smarter than you just exercise some common sense

Obviously you have never studied anything by Carl Sagan. And I quote, "There is no such thing as a stupid question. Many people say that, but it really is true. Every question, no matter how ill-formed or ignorant of knowledge, is a request for knowledge, a request for information. It is an effort to understand better. Every time someone asks an honest question, it is an interrogation of nature, an attempt to unlock the secrets of the universe."

Now, to the original poster - What I heard is that most of the evidence they had against her was just statements from her ex and not actually anything tangible that tied her directly to it. But, part of the statements (I have not actually read any of these statements, this is only what I've heard here and there) is that there were phone calls and texts to her ex asking him to come over and help her start a fire.

IF that is true (and I say IF because you know how rumors are), they would be able to subpoena those phone records to get the full story.

Of course, more of the story will come out during her arraignment. I'm also relatively unfamiliar with the court system, but I can warn you to be careful about what you read on Topix. This place is nothing more than a rumor mill for cyber-bullies.

it is not the one that works at the nursing home. She is not married but when she moved here the electric company said that there was another Jacqueline Johnson in town. And the lady told us that she was not a very nice lady. I really don't know but i do know the one that works at the nursing home is not this one with the arson crap.

It's the one that used to be named Judy. She changed her name but I don't know why. She was married to a Seay, a Morton, a Crocker, and Eugene Crouch. I don't personally know her but she pops up in the newspaper a lot, over the last ten years especially. I think I remembered it so clearly because of the name change announcement.

Jaci is a very close friend of mine. Remember she is innocent until proven guilty. I don't live in Salem, but I was told about this website and it is nothing but a gossip column.
There is a lot involved with this case that none of you have any idea about. "Emmy" is right, the truth will eventually come out. Try using all your extra time for something good, instead of spending your time defaming people you don't even know.

You're absolutely right - innocent until proven guilty. I meant to say that earlier. But I don't think anyone is defaming in this particular thread. Mostly just "debate" on how the court system works. It's best to just wait and see what happens in cases such as these. Far too often, innocent people are accused of things, completely cleared, but they're still guilty in everyone's mind. That isn't fair or just, and that's not what the United States justice system is about.

I heard Eugene Crouch her ex husband turned her in to the police. I wish more citizens had as good of character as Eugene.

He turned her in to get a deal for himself. He was charged with this fire back in November. Then being the coward he is he sang like a bird to keep himself out of jail. I hardly think we need more of his character in Salem.

Well, even if he turned her in for a deal, if she's guilty of something, then obviously she needed to be turned in. It doesn't matter what his motivation behind turning her in was. As someone said, the authorities took her into custody because they had something linking her to the crime. I remember a couple months ago, it was in the paper that Eugene had implicated her, but she had not been picked up yet because they had no evidence. Now they do. What evidence they collected will probably be available to the public in the newspaper or at her arraignment.

Here is the newspaper article. I have not read it yet. http://www.thesalemnewsonline.com/news/crime_...

I agree if she was involved she needed to be turned in. I was merely pointing out to firemarshal that Eugene is not quite the hero they thought him to be.
