Oh brother. His "Autism" didn't prevent him from living on his own, obtaining a driver's license, working, and knowing enough to kill her, take her to a secluded area, and try to cover up his crime.

This is absolute BS. Autism does not create a sociopath; and anyone with a child with autism should be outraged that his attorney is attempting to link the two conditions. He was born messed up, and IMO should be put down like the rabid dog he has shown himself to be.

At what point in the future will the public feel comfortable having their daughters alone with him, or being alone with him on a country road themselves for that matter?

I feel for her family, and think it's a hell of a lot for Illinois to ask that they continue to foot the bill, through their tax dollars, to feed and clothe this animal who stole their child from them and a mother from their grandchildren, just because he "felt like hurting someone" that day.

He's broken--he's unsafe--he's not worth the money it would take to keep him alive in prison. Put him down.

we don't have the death penalty in IL, so he for sure won't be "put down" like a dog.

Just think about your statements before you bash everyone else. His family life was bad from previous stories I have read.

We let people that do worse crimes to children out to wonder our streets daily. Just look at Marion County's sex offender list on the ISP website. It is outrageous!

He should definately stand trial. The levels he went to during his commission of the crime...he allegedly kicked and beat this poor lady down, left her for dead and then apparently came back to make sure she was dead.

It's still unbelievable, to say the least.

this man should be fried already. if he was fit enough to commit this gruesome crime, he is fit enough to face the consequences.

There is too much evidence to claim he isn't guilty. the only determination is whether he should die for this crime, or go to a mental institution. Try 'em in the morning, hang 'em by noon.

you should feel sorry for his victim, not him. Nothing a person suffers in their lifetime constitutes the murder of another person!
And, yes, Illinois does have the death penalty, do your research:

I completely agree, this has been the WORST crime in our county since the rape and murder of little Amy Schultz in Kell, IL, just down the road form Walnut Hill.

IL may have the death penalty, but do your research, no one has been executed since before George Ryan was govenor, so likely this guy won't either.

This part is mostly true. I knew his late mother. She was a functioning alcoholic. While i don't think she ever beat the boys, i feel she was probably neglectful and there wasn't a father in the home either. This being said, the other 2 boys turned out okay. So this does seem to suggest something isn't right with him mentally. However i think autism is a stretch.

There was a murder in Odin Illinois some years back. The boy next door went and killed the neighbor lady in her 40's and raped her to boot. I think this is higher profile because the womans father in law is a politician and she was a school teacher well known in the community. There have been several murders in Centralia and Mt vernon. How about the boy who killed his whole family in Mt vernon or in centralia the two boys that killed the ones father and wrapped his body in a trash bag and left it in the basement?
As far as the man who killed the Caveletto woman if he is truly mentally ill then I do not think we can hold him entirely responsible. He of course should receive life in prison to ensure the safty of the population.

i agree that this man had a more serious issue than autism. "myopinion" you are right he needs to be behind bars for life for safety reasons, b/c i think that if someone is capable of doing it once, the second time would be a lot easier, and locking him up is the only way to insure that there is not a second time.

its cheaper on the tax payer to keep someone in prison than to put them to death.

I went to church with the Barrall boys, and the comment about "the other 2 boys turning out ok" .... i don't consider committing suicide for fear of jail as turning out ok. And on the Autism side, i never heard anything of this until now, and my husband grew up on the same street as the Barralls.....you would think that someone would have known something about this BEFORE he killed a mother, grandmother, teacher, and well respected woman. My nephew is in her son's class, they play on the same basketball team. When he came home asking questions, i immediately thought "that poor boy, everyone in school has been talking and asking about his mother, how is his father going to tell him that someone beat, raped and killed his mommy, just because he felt like it??" I will NOT say that i think he should be put to death. It is very clear that we are not to judge or act as God. Some say "an eye for an eye" but who takes the eye of the punisher?? When does this cycle stop? God will pass his judgement. Everyone must answer for their actions.

its clear, that when society views it as acceptable to not put to death a person regardless of mental stability, that clearly murdered some one.

she was a runner, he knew this, he followed her...he hit her with his jeep. got out, kicked her in the face, raped her. beat her. realized he had forgotten his knife. goes home, retrieves hit, comes back. and stabs her. imagine the fear she went through (if she was conscious) when she saw him come back.

for those of you againt the death penalty, or as i refer to you as idiots. imagine you saw this happening lets say you have a gun. you know he's going to kill her. what do you do? he's a split second from the kill blow. do you shoot him, or say hey, this is inhumane. stop, lets talk about your crap childhood. and why you are sad.

you'd be stupid if you did that. nothing changed after the fact he killed her. why does a little time lessen the crime? kill him, string him up on television, draw and quarter him. let animals rip him to shreds. he's trash.

who cares if he is retarded. or nuts or has autism. if you kill like an animal, be killed like an animal. the ultimate goal is to protect innocent human life. who's life will be saved if he spared?

to whoever "from centralia il" is.
You really should just shut the heck up right now.Really..
Yes this is my family you are speaking about. The"Barralls"

You know we agree that what he did was wrong and should be punished but to talk about my cousin that he should be killed like trash is bull. To talk about his brother my other cousin is even more crappy. He killed himself you know what and we mourn that loss all the time..
Maybe you should take into consideration that even the guilty have a family and they still care.

This is too Devil... I am against the death penalty for the reason that many have sat on death row and later were found to be innocent... and many have already been executed who were later found innocent. What if that was you're son or relative sitting on death role for a crime they did not commit?
I resent the fact that you typecast all people who do not believe in the death penalty as idiots without first wondering or asking their reason for not supporting the death penalty.
I happen to hold human life in high regard and If their was anyway for a jury to be 100% certain that someone committed a heinous murder I would be the first to ask for the monster to be put to death.
If one innocent person is put to death it affects hundreds of other liefs... Are we any better than a common criminal if we put innocents to death.
For this reason I am against the death penalty it is just not worth the risk of killing a innocent human being.
Devil you have no right to judge others or call them and idiot simply because they hold a different opinion than u do. I was taught respect for others you obviously were not!

By the way a good book to read is John Grisham "The Innocent Man" It is about and innocent man who is on death row for a murder he did not commit... It's a true story. The police dept was corrupt as well as the whole legal system.. Evidence was planted and true evidence disregarded. This is the best argument against the death penalty I have ever read... If my family member was murdered It would be enough for me for the person to receive natural life in prison with NO PAROLE to know that person will never look at a ocean sunset...Know the joy of family in a home setting or ever make love to the opposite sex is enough for me. Their life will be hell and far worse than death.

You are an idiot. consider yourself one.
People who murder deserve murder, those who disagree really are completely stupid, and don't see reality clearly. Some people don't deserve to live. Also, meee, who gives a shit about your family? No one does. now for all of you murderer lovers stfu and gtfo. or kill yourselves and make space for the rest of us non defectives.
