I felt this this morning - I live in the East Hills neighborhood in Grand Rapids. My bed was vibrating and I was wondering why. Just a few seconds later it stopped and I fell back asleep. It never even occurred to me that it would be an earthquake!!!!!! Then I opened the WOOD TV 8 page to check the weather and news before work, and the headline was the earthquake.........!

I felt what must have been an aftershock from the quake at 5:40 this morning in the Mattawan area. My livingroom lamp shook and my wife was awakened.

I didn't feel a darn thing. Our pets didn't react to anything either. I kind of feel cheated.

I was laying in bed this morning at about 5:40 and I heard some creaking in the attic- I thought maybe there was an animal or something. Then immediately I felt my bed shaking- I sat up and my floor lamp was shaking as well. All of a sudden a couple of my kids started crying and then they fell back to sleep. A little after 6 when my husband woke up I told him what happened and said that either we had an earthquake or I'm going crazy (it's not like we live in California). I'm 38 and have lived in GR almost my whole life and never felt anything like it. We turned on the tv at 6:15 and sure enough there it was. Thanks news 8 for being on top of things! Great news station- We appreciate you!

I was woke up this morning by my bed shaking and the knobs on my dresser were just clattering together. I thought I was dreaming at first but then new I was not. This was the first time I have ever felt anything like this. Kinda freaky.

Ok, we've had our little West Michigan "Breaking News Event" for the day....Now is there any other news going on in the world???? Come on WOOD TV, I'm getting to the point where some day when there is a real "Breaking News Event" like if we're getting invaded by aliens, or Michigan suddenly gets sucked into Lake Superior, I'll just yawn. Enough already!

I heard the shade for the light fixture in my bedroom rattle at about 0540hrs this morning.

I knew it was an earthquake, but I rolled over and went back to sleep because I thought that if it was something to be concerned about, it would be too late anyway, lol.

When the New Madrid fault gives way, there will be very few places in the Midwest that will remain safe.

Yawn.

Been there, done that.

There are earthquakes in the Midwest. They are rare, but they do happen. I've felt others over the years, and this one was nothing special. Of course, the media - especially TV8 - is going out of their way to play it up for ratings.

Now, if the New Madrid fault in Missouri (area, it is in several states) goes off, THEN there will be a story. But until then, it's not enough news to talk it up for more than a few minutes.

I live in Muskegon and I got knocked right out of bed. I bookcase fell on my weener dog and hurt his left foot. My fish tank cracked and all my fish died so I'm on my way to long John Silvers to see if I a least can get a couple bucks out of this tragedy.

After all who would of thought to have earthquake insurance here.

I was laying in bed and I felt my mattress move. I sat up to see if someone was in the room and nobody was. I then noticed on the news of the quake. My husband felt it as well he just thought a gust of wind went through!
