give me a break gvnr !! a lot of state jobs involve moutains of paperwork/reporting/documentat ion/meetings after meetings. if it isn't written, it wasn't done-and in the infinite wisdom of someone in years past, regions of (formerly DMR, now DDS) were reassigned, made larger, & fewer. now, we get to travel further, often having to use our own vehicle, getting reimbursed a paultry amt that hasn't been adjusted upwards since the gas price increases.
Americans work too many hours, that is our "american dream/nightmare". Oh what I would give to work by the European standard, with lots of vacation time, family leave time, siesta time, enjoying life, with work added in, vs. working to our death, with a little bit of living thrown in here & there. Hope the next governor of our fair state has a different mind set.

Working long hours is an Amercian thing for sure. Unfortunatly, I don't see my town hall as the first place i want to see redused hours. As it is most are only open from 8:30am to 4pm. Currently making it impossible to get to town hall. If you go at lunch many depts are closed from 11:30am till 1:00pm. You can;t call many times because the dept take their phones off the hook so they don't get bothered.

Bottom line - sounds like a great idea, but I say no ! Lets vote on it town by town in November. Let the people decide, It is our country and our towns!

There's nothing sacred about five-day work weeks. With a little fore-
thought, the peoples' business can get done just as well 4X10 (days X hours) as 5X8.
Municipal offices with heavy customer (residents, taxpayers) interface could open earlier one day, and close later the next.
The same can be said for many corporate offices, and perhaps production facilities. Does it really "absolutely, positively have to get done (or delivered) overnight?"
Benefits include energy savings, and reduced traffic congestion.

Why aren't we on the European work ethic? I believe its because of this damned big business. They work us like dogs until we get old or sick, then the treat us like garbage. We have the right to a pursuit of happiness. We should have socialized insurance, just like we pay taxes to run public schools, post office, police/fire/ambulance and libraries. For everyone that say socalized medicine sucks, try living in countries that have it. I have. If we don't think its perfect, then alter it an make it work for the american people. This isn't our country anymore and we all just sit by and let this happen. That is a shame.

Cracks me up that Finch wants to go to a 4 day workweek.

Cityhall has been on at most a 3-day week for years (the other two days spent lining their own pockets).

Not a big fan of Torres, but he was right. How is it that with all the advances in Technology, and reduction in services, the headcount at City Hall has swelled so much over the last 20 years?

Think about it.....
