does anyone care about how this town looks? It doesn't matter what direction you enter the town from, there is a junk hole right before you enter. Who owns these places?

Bunch of rednecks or crack heads. Salem used to be such a nice, pretty town. You're right, it all looks like a used car lot.

I moved from there 18 years ago and I wanted to return to raise my kids there. Drugs are in every town, but I have to admit, it was the looks of salem that kept me from moving back. It just looks depressing with piles of junk sitting everywhere,

Salem is exactly: what you see is how it is. When you see a town with it's population and 4 drug stores,:(Salem Drug Company,Leslies Drug Store,Bakers Pharmacy and Millers pharmacy.), it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how many people there are on prescription drugs, there are housing projects that house these people right there in Salem also. The other people that make up the rest of the population there are on meth, crack, or crank. So It is a sad spot on planet earth, as well as spooky.
Anyone wanting to move there has got to be a drug addict. Otherwise they would not. It has no job offers, or any other means of support. Structured insanity, or organized confusion at it's best is an accurate description of Salem Arkansas 72576.

Used to work at the hospital there long ago when I lived at Cherokee Village,there was no other place to work close.Is the hospital still open?

this little town seems to be an area of rejects who find it their place to leach thier way through life as easily as possible. that means eat, sleep, make babies,free to them, but a burden to the taxpayer. find a friend here? drug addiction, alcohol... just plain stupidity.

who's who? or king of the junk-pile? even the few people that have a little money or influence, will-not help this little town...kind of like job security...keep everyone in thier places,because it won't take much to be better than them.

i just know personally of a couple who are so messed up all of the time that their kids live in filth. They have been turned in to DFS so many times it isn't funny but nothing happens. They now have more help than anyone but still all they can do is sit back and watch as the cockroaches race across their kids hands and feet while they sit in the floor watching cartoon and eating. I kid you not!

Well, for starters the Police can't control what DHS and DFS do. All the Police can do is report it and hope DHS will get out of the office and make a home visit.

Can the police stop them from stealing and selling hydrocodone and xanax? They were pulled over with these illegal substances in a car with the wrong tags and no insurance near lanton for driving irratically. Did the officer even run the tags? no. or if he did he didnt say anything about them belonging to an out of state vehicle. Didn't even get a warning. oh i guess that would have been out of their jurisdiction. Well anyway, check out the nursing home. Lots of prescription meds comming out of that place.
