Salamanca City Electric

Oh I do understand times are tough as well all feel the effects of a poor economy. With the past due electric I think it has to be put in perspective. If 80 in past due electric is acceptable and say there are 5,000 electric accounts at the BPU then it's OK that customers owe the BPU a collective $400,000? I don't see any entity finding that OK. Now do the same math with everyone owing a couple hundred. With the back due electric I think it has to be looked at differently. Say you owe the BPU 100 in past due electric and your average monthly bill is 40 dollars. Statistically you owe then 2.5 months worth of electric consumption. On the other hand if you owe 100 and your average monthly electric bill is 125 dollars then theoretically you owe less than one months electric. It has to be each individual account and not a dollar amount as a threshold for shutoff. Everyone's consumption is different.

There,s just a good chance that when Kinzua Dam was built, That there was in agreement with the seneca,s, Electric was to be provided with no charge because of the removal to the families on the reservation which includes the city of salamanca in which the public was not aware of. , Everyone may have been paying for somthing they knew nothing about. Research with the England owned company National grid will be complete in the coming months. And guess who'll pay then.

People in this city work hard. The electric is not cheap. The ppa doubles your bill. People dont deserve the way the BPU acts. Because they cant just throw a check in the window and call it done. Thats why the PSC has rules for them to follow that they dont follow. national fuel nation grid all follow same PSC rules and do not act the way salamanca BPU acts. As for me I was down town paying my bill when they turned it off. Really this wasnt about paying a bill. They knew I was comming. There is a guy who works there with a bowl cut that looks like a over size bam bam, he is mouthy and rude. He smashed the water cap to get it off faster and when they pulled out drive way a gold jeep almost wrecked because of their wrecklessness. My daughter had to run over to the jeep to make sure they were ok. What does any of this have to do with paying a bill. They WANTED to turn it off. The next day over size bam bam had to come fix the water cap they broke. The aggreement only works when you let the customer pay it!!!!!!!!!!
That right there is the problem. Prices of everything fluctuating, robbing peter to pay Paul. We are FAR from lazy people, and I refuse to go into our daily routine to appease the people on here looking to get a rise outta someone. But I will point out this is the beginning of the semester and some of us do have to pay a portion out of pocket. The point of this post was the rude people that we spoke with. Paydays land on Friday, this was a Tuesday. Not only could they not wait until payday, she was rude and offended that we even asked! Anyway, this wasn't meant to start a big ol fight, or bring out the wanna be financial advisors who post up on this site from day to night, giving advice.

Plenty of Fridays in a three month period. I pay the whole bill out of pocket on time every month as is expected. I'm not a wanna be financial advisor, I conserve on utilities, have a paycheck and live on a budget. And I certainly wouldn't announce to the world via the internet I don't pay my bills.

I sure as hell don't want to pay YOUR electric bill, and that's what happens if you don't pay it. The BPU still has to pay for the power you use, even if you're a deadbeat.

If you don't pay at Parkview, you don't get your groceries.

If you don't pay at Rite Aid you don't get your prescriptions.

If you don't pay for your internet, they shut that down.

Why is the BPU any different? If you don't pay for the service, they shut it down. If you can't afford it, figure out a way to use less, get a subsidy, or come up with an alternative solution. Meanwhile, get the hell off of Topix and go get a part time job somewhere.

I don't have all the problems you do, all the time, with everyone you come into contact with. I pay my bills on time, when they are due.

that only applies to working people, there are many forms of SS and a lot of people who get SSI never paid in a dime, thats why the system is going broke

The cost of eletric is going up because of the Allegheny Casino. The amount of power to operate the thing far exceeds the what people in salamanca could consume and now the public is beginning to foot the bill. What,s the matter with everyone, are we to blind to see that this bright idea of having casino in our area is to good to be true, when the only ones to make up the difference of a high cost for someone else,s failure is us the people."For Christ Sakes" How blind can we be. The cost of living has gone up to a point where salamanca isn,t even a good welfare town anymore, and not to mention how the business at the SAC has declined because of the ill-fated Casino compact made with NYS. We,ve all been scammed to believe NYS would keep it,s word with ths SNI and so we pay for over cost, it,s totally unfair as usual. How Foolish. Some of us said this would happen in the beginning, But of course nobody cared.
