What is the popular opinion of ourlocal doctors? I called my doctor last week to try and get in for an earache. I was told the earliest appointment was two weeks away. The nurse told me if I thought it was bad to go to the urgent care in Olean. What is wrong with this picture? I have insurance, I have a regular doctor,I have been going to this same doctor for several years.I am fairly healthy and don't go to the doctor unless I am ill. Maybe I have to be a regular visitor in order to get in when I really need to see a doctor.

Well when we as consumers voice our opinion to our doctors ( whom by the way work for us) it may just register. And don't count on urgent care the wait could be hours.

Yes, it was Dr. Sheikh. We found a new doctor today. Going to see next week. I was in and out of urgent care in 1/2 hour with perscriptions.

Gee, how did I know it would be Dr. Sheikh? I finally, after over ten years, switched doctors. Sheikh used to be a good doctor, but somewhere along the line things have changed. I know many people are unhappy with Sheikh and have already left his practice or plan to in the very-near future.(I have several family members that are/were patients.) It's a shame, but we as patients have a right to expect a certain kind of care.

At some personal risk, I'm going to weigh in on this. My dad was a patient of Dr. Sheikh's, and I strongly believe that if my dad had a different doctor, he'd still be alive, today.

My dad didn't feel well on a Tuesday; it sounded like a flu-thing. He saw Dr. Sheikh on Wednesday a little before noon - he was so ill that he could barely walk - but the doctor did absolutely nothing for him and sent him home. A little more than 24 hours later, after suffering excruciating pain, my dad died. It's beyond infuriating knowing that he didn't have to die. My dad's illness could have been treated - if caught in time.

If you or someone you care for is a patient of Dr. Sheikh's, I urge you to at least get a second opinion on medical matters.

My heart goes out to you and your family....My sister went to Sheikh, was put on meds and scheduled for a follow up visit. At my urging she got a second opinion....thank god....chances are she wouldn't have lived long enough to go to her follow up app. with Sheikh.

My dad has been having nothing but problems with Dr. Sheikh for years. Whether it be getting an appointment in a realistic amount of time or them (Sheikh & his constantly changing staff)messing up his bp meds. I can't get him to switch to someone else though. I go to Dr. Patel. Did when I was a kid and then started going back about 10 yrs ago. They try to get you in asap and in my opinion actually listen and care.

Yes I agree with Patel. His ass'ts are great too. Tom Malinowski takes the time to listen and he hasn't done my family wrong. I hate to ever go to the Dr. but if I need to I would highly recommend them.

So sorry for your loss AaronM. That's horrible! I have heard similar stories. Personally, I see Lynn Ouellette. She is wonderful. Listens to all of your concerns and truly cares for her patients. She just opened her own practice on Main St. in Salamanca. It is located in the old Dentist clinic. All I can say is if you are not satisfied with the care you are receiving from your doctor, you have every right to get a second opinion or to go elsewhere.

Dr. Sheikh has been this communities Dr. for nearly 20 years and has remained here because of his loyalty to the people he's taken care of. He could have left Salamanca behind like so many other Doctors did, but chose to stay because he has dedication and love for the people he has cared for to the point that it nearly killed him. He is only Human! He is not a God like most of you expect him to be! He has gone above and beyond thousands of times to care for his patients, even when they have neglected to follow his advice, have not been compliant with their care, or even didn't pay and owed him hundreds or even thousands of $. He never turned his back on you. There is a reason other places aren't as busy! I'm happy to put my health in his hands!

I have not actually seen Dr. Sheikh in over 2 years. Neither has my husband. We have called to get appointments with him and we end up seeing a PA. Not saying the PA's don't know what they are doing, just when we ask for the doctor, we expect to see the dr.

asn- I like Dr.Sheikh but the quality of care that his office presents is less that satisfactory. EVEN if you are lucky to get into see him you will wait and wait only to be seen for a few minutes and then him having to rush off because one of the nurses needs him or because he is triple booked. How is that for quality care? I think you spend more time with the nurse while she getting your vitals than with the dr. And the other office in Olean, well, lets just say I could not wait to get out of there. The place felt grimy and dingy nothing like what the Salamanca office is like or any doctors office is like and its far from organized. Paper stacks all over the office, the women when I was there were atleast friendlier than the ones in Salamanca. I was only there once and I will not go back to that place again.

I said it before, and I will say it again. If you are not comfortable with the treatment you receive from ANY doctor, you should go somewhere else and/or get a second opinion. ASN, if you get quality care from Sheikh and his office...good for you! You are one of the lucky ones. I never said nor implied that Sheikh is a God. As far as his money problems go, I'm sure it has more to do with bad investment dealings than with patients owing money. That's not to say that he is not owed money by patients. I'm sure he is. I think what it boils down to is that people are not satisfied with the care they receive from him and his staff. I cannot fault anyone for that.

I agree that if you are not happy with the care you receive or want another opinion, you should go elsewhere. I too am just expressing my opinion about Dr. Sheikh and his staff and think they work very hard and have done well by me and my family.

well, maybe if Sheikh cared more about his practice more than he cares about his other failed businesses and girlfriends, he wouldnt be losing patients.

i waited not once, but a handful of times for more than an hour in the waiting room and patient room, only for him to see me for 5 minutes and sign a handful of prescriptions. One time I was there to get MRI results that were done at least a week before my appointment and they didnt even have the results of that or my blood tests. Had to wait for one of the office staff to call and get the results. That took another half hour.

Its really to the point where I am thinking of switching. my wife likes seeing the other doctor there though.

I believe your family should consult a lawyer. this certainly sounds like a wrongful death lawsuit.

Dr. Jor dan's nothing but a quack. My father and mother are patients of his, and I don't think he knows his elbow from his ass.
