"Red Jacket Tobacco" is not really owned by Lesley Hoag. It's actually owned by Lane and Lance Hoag, Lesley is just the enrolled Seneca that they needed to have a smoke shop. These two guys are criminals, plain and simple. They aren't enrolled, yet they run a handful of tax-free businesses. My wife and I are enrolled Senecas. We have both written letters to President Snyder asking him to try to crack down on these types of abuses. Any enrolled Senecas on this forum should consider doing the same. Maybe then NYS will back off the rest of us a little bit.

I don't disagree, but maybe it would be better to address the enrollment issue, instead. I know of half-Senecas who can't be enrolled, but quarter- or less Senecas that are. We've discussed this elsewhere.

These guys could then run their own business legitimately.

Lesley Hoag should face charges for fronting the business then. Nobody is forcing her to front for them, and unless she is mentally challenged then she is well aware of what she is doing.

Is it illegal to own a business and have someone else manage a number of functions? If so, then every non-sole proprietorship out there would face charges of "fronting," then.

It's possible that things are a little more complicated than you and I know.

If their mother is an enrolled Seneca, then they are as well. So if they're enrolled, it's legal for them to run it. Criminal or not, it's legal.:-)

hmm, one could take an educated guess that the mother is not an enrolled Seneca. Knowing them, I don't have to guess, they are NOT enrolled.

sounds like a similar situation to the one with the Long's (Karen Bucktooth) and that other white person that got in trouble when Don John was fronting for him. The ones to blame are the ones fronting the businesses and claiming they weren't smart enough to know what they were doing. Wasn't Don John a deputy?
